My speech on April 27, 2015 at Energy Storage World Forum Rome, was focused on how to recover and reuse low-temperature wasted heat from kitchen appliances, and the technologies for the thermal energy storage. A full prototype of Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system was created. The TES system is based on a packed bed of macro-encapsulated phase change material (PCM). Typical household appliances were analyzed in order to evaluate the waste heat produced on the basis of the average user habits at European level.

Researchers at Whirlpool Corporation are using simulation to test innovative and sustainable technologies for new oven designs. Their research will deliver a substantial reduction to the European carbon footprint while bringing a more efficient and higher quality cooking experience into the home.

The CDF methodology is applied to the study of the air flow around a 2-D car and its interaction with the cabin internal air. The flow visualization or computational works enable engineers to calculate different car characteristics like drag coefficient, external and internal air flow patterns.The results show the physics behavior of the flow and the presence of flow structures, as for instance, indoor air recirculation zones.
Aerodynamic Design of a Micro Air Vehicle: Study of Propeller-Engine Performa...Nelson García Polanco
The present research is due to study the performance of engine-propeller cells to be used in the design of a Micro Air Vehicle (MAV). Design conditions: weigh less than 200gr, maximum size 30cm, to fly a distance of 200m, and be able to carry a camera and chemical sensors. One of the goals of the study is to use commercial parts (engines and propellers) in order to reduce manufacturing cost. An experimental methodology was used to measure the followings variables for the engine-propeller cell: Thrust (T), velocity (RPM), cylinder head temperature (CHT), wind incident velocity (VD), aerodynamic drag (D), torque (Q) and velocity profile behind every propeller. Results: aerodynamic Drag Coefficient of the propeller-engine cell (engine off), for each propeller. Dynamic Thrust: test with engine and tunnel on, at different RPM and different tunnel flow velocity.
The document summarizes a study of heat transfer from a circuit board using heat pipes. SINDA/FLUINT software was used to model the system and analyze the transient temperature evolution and effects of parametric variations. The study found that increasing the heat pipes' vaporization or condensation coefficients and heat load lowered the circuit board's hottest temperature, while increasing or decreasing the heat pipes' length increased the hottest temperature.

Este documento describe tres sistemas de arranque para motores de aviación: 1) arranque con embrague de sobrevelocidad, donde un embrague móvil acopla el motor a la transmisión de arranque; 2) arranque tipo Bendix, que usa un piñón móvil accionado por un tornillo helicoidal; y 3) arranque con adaptador a 90° respecto al eje del motor.
