11th Middle East Orthopaedics ConferenceCheryl Prior
The 11th Middle East Orthopaedic Conference will focus on the impact of the knee from birth to the golden years. As technology changes and the population ages, the public health challenges to mobility will become increasingly demanding. Demonstrating the value of care for these knee issues is an important imperative to the orthopaedic community in the region.
With an ageing population, the knee joint is one of the biggest and fastest growing problems within the field of orthopaedics. Since the region hosts a mixture of cultures, physicians are encountering more varied types of knee problems, ranging from sports injuries to problems due to the motion of praying.
Over the course of two action-packed days, the 11th edition of the orthopaedic conference will provide delegates with the opportunity to learn new techniques, methods and surgical procedures ascertaining to the knee, ultimately helping to improve patient outcome and experiences.

Research on Hamstring Injuries: From scientific evidence to clinical practice
Abstract
Background: Physiotherapy is multi-dimensional and can treat a vast variety of conditions, ranging from musculoskeletal aches, arthritis, joints problems, paraplegia, hemiplegic, sports injuries and frozen shoulder etc. Apart from culture competency and core medical knowledge a physiotherapist must be competent enough in all physiotherapist medical conditions where physical therapy plays a vital role. This study aims to identify the frequency of common clinical conditions among client presented at Habib Physiotherapy Complex (HPC), Hayatabad during 2010.
Methodology: This was a descriptive study; the data were retrieved from record register of HPC (Indoor and Outdoor patients) recording their presenting complaints and known diagnoses. Data was collected on a structure grid. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 15 and presented in term of frequency and percentages.
Result: The majority of clients (1280 (29%)) were suffering from low back pain. The second common condition 891(20%) was osteoarthritis of the knee joint and cerebrovascular accidents 824(18.4%), while cervical pain accounted for 734(16.4%). The rest of clinical conditions included; frozen shoulder, pelvic inflammation, cerebral palsy, polio effected and paraplegia.
Conclusion: The Study reveals the occurrence of Osteoarthritis (Low Back, Cervical Pain, and Knee Joints Pain) were the most common condition which deteriorated the performance of common individuals in our society.

modalities and information, allowing attendees to expand their knowledge and enhance
their skills.
A national and international faculty of leading experts will present the very best in
emerging technology and cutting edge clinical as well as basic science research in pediatric
hip diseases, conservative hip surgery, hip arthroscopy, hip arthroplasty, rehabilitation
and future trends in each field.
On the first day of the course many aspects of hip diseases and treatments will be examined
through case-based learning, video vignettes, and audience interaction directed and
lead by our expert faculty.
On the second day, a comprehensive hip and pelvis rehabilitation workshop for
physiotherapists will run in parallel with surgical re-live demonstrations, case presentations,
as well as open debates and discussions regarding a wide spectrum of hip pathologies
and treatments.
Our faculty experts and thought leaders will offer feature lectures, practical pearl spotlights
and clinical case panels regarding clinical practice and practice management issues.
A parallel meeting will be held on the second day of the conference, and will be dedicated
to topics of specific interest for physiotherapists. We will enjoy the opportunity to learn

The Joint Organization in Israel
The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee – also known as JDC or the Joint –
was founded in 1914 as the overseas arm of North American Jewry to help Jews in need
wherever they may be. Originally established to help the impoverished Jews living in
what was then Palestine, JDC over the years has continued to offer care and assistance
to Jews in need around the world.
Over the course of its history, JDC has actively cared for Jews in need communities in
over 80 countries, helping save hundreds of thousands from the Holocaust and helping
rebuild survivors' lives and reconstruct shattered Jewish communities from the Atlantic
to the Iron Curtain. Today, JDC operations focus particularly on assisting the Jews of the
former Soviet Union recover from community rule and – as it has from its earliest days –
on helping build a strong, caring society in our Jewish state.
JDC's programs in Israel seek to strengthen the country's own ability to care its most
vulnerable citizens: the elderly; children and youth at risk; hard to absorb immigrant
groups; people with special needs and unskilled adults who cannot find employment.
This work is enhanced by the research of the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute and by the
Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel.
This work is the essence of partnership – between the North American Jewish communities
on whose behalf JDC works, and the Israeli government and voluntary agencies who are
charged with addressing society's needs.
JDC's support for this conference is made possible by the Arthur Holstein Fellowship.
