Ainsley’s Foolproof Guide of . . .
A Learning Curve
 Starting this game, I knew very little
about the stock market or investing
 At first, I just picked stocks at random
 Obviously, this didn’t always work
 Slowly, I learned to pay attention to
trends and news reports
 This helped a little bit, but I still would
not call myself a financial guru anytime
soon
The Rights and Wrongs
 RIGHT:
 Paid attention to
news reports and
made predictions
(not always good
ones)
 Researched stocks
before buying (after
learning the hard
way)
 WRONGS:
 Got greedy, didn’t
know when to sell
 Did not use stop
loss feature,
definitely should
have
 Too passive in
portfolio
management
We’re All Animals
 I was 100% an
ostrich
 I invested, and
promptly stuck my
head in the sand
forevermore
A Performance Snapshot

$246,000.00
$248,000.00

Account Value
The Best of the Best…and the
Worst
 My best trade was also my worst one
The Unfortunate Tale of RIO
$3.47
$3.76
$2.40
THE BEST
 RIO was the best trade I made because
of the money I WAS making off of it
 Read a news report and made a correct
prediction
 AND THEN….
THE WORST
 Then, after making nearly $4,000, I
made the choice not to sell
 And now I am losing over $7,000 dollars
 I let my greed get the better of me and
lost everything and then some
Lessons Learned
 Don’t be a pig, know when to sell
 One rarely gets lucky in the stock market
 Patience really is a virtue
 Personal investing is very time consuming
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY . . .
I learned I will never, ever
manage my own money.
