The prospects of farmers ’ inability to meet the ever-rising demand for food and highly priced agricultural inputs in developing countries are becoming high in the face of climate change and variability and the associated increase in disaster risks. Agriculture is most vulnerable, both in terms of food production and as a livelihood source, particularly for poor people and smallholders. Developing countries in Asia, particularly in South and Southeast Asia, are likely to face the highest reductions in agricultural potential due to climate change, with significant impacts on food crops production and food security (ADB 2009), hence, the imperative of finding adaptation measures that are effective and sustainable.
