This document discusses DNA, RNA, and the central dogma of molecular biology. It explains that DNA contains the nucleotides adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine while RNA contains uracil instead of thymine. The document also describes the three main types of RNA - mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA - and their roles in transcription and translation, the process by which DNA's genetic instructions are used to synthesize proteins.

Fear incubation leads to generalized avoidance in an animal model of PTSDFabricio Pamplona
1) The document describes experiments using a conditioned odor avoidance (CODA) task in mice to investigate avoidance behavior and fear generalization as an animal model for PTSD.
2) The CODA task involves pairing an odor cue (ethanol) with footshocks and then testing avoidance of the odor versus a neutral odor over time.
3) The experiments found that after an incubation period, mice developed "generalized" avoidance of both odors, resembling the avoidance seen in PTSD patients, and this avoidance was reduced by diazepam, suggesting it involves associative and non-associative components.
The document summarizes research on the effects of cannabinoids AM404 and cannabidiol (CBD) on fear memory extinction in rats. The study found that AM404 and CBD facilitated the extinction of contextual fear memories. This effect was blocked by a CB1 receptor antagonist, but not a TRPV1 receptor antagonist. AM404 and CBD also produced anti-anxiogenic effects, suggesting they may reduce stress and promote fear memory extinction. The results highlight CBD's potential as a pharmacological tool to reduce anxiety and stress.

Have you ever not made a much-needed change because you were afraid of breaking something? Caution is wise, but too much fear can leave even the most agile of software organizations with a crippling aversion to change. This talk will discuss what makes us scared, why it hurts us, and my experiences helping a team I managed get rid of some of our fears.
