Given China’s recent economic, political, and
cultural emergence on the world stage, it becomes
imperative for future leaders—whether they
become lawyers, politicians, businesspeople,
engineers, or academics—to fully understand the
new environment and its impact on their field.
Global China Connection (GCC) is the world’s
largest student organization dedicated to providing
the future leaders of China and the international
community with a platform to engage each other.
A non-profit, non-partisan organization, GCC is
represented in over 40 chapters at top universities
around the world. We work directly with top
Chinese universities as well as a number of
corporate and organizational partners on a variety
of projects to provide opportunities for our members
to gain international experience and develop an
international network. Under the fiscal sponsorship
of Chinese Teatime Inc., Global China Connection
is recognized with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status.
The GCC Network comprises of over 40
chapters at top universities worldwide. Each
chapter is a recognized organization on campus,
maintaining its own management, adhering to
GCC standards, and actively fulfilling our mission.
Together, these chapters form the GCC network.
GCC operates chapters at a wide spectrum
of universities around the world, including
prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Yale,
Columbia, McGill, and Oxford. Now spanning five
countries, the network continues to grow in 2010
to an expected 50 chapters across eight countries.
Network activities are supported and directed by
GCC-Central, the management body of Global China
Connection. GCC-Central directs strategy and helps
facilitate many activities of the larger organization.

INTERNATIONAL EVENTS
GCC hosts large-scale conferences, panel
discussions, and networking events throughout
the year. Our two annual conferences—one in
Beijing and one in New York—feature leaders
from academia, politics, and business, attracting
hundreds of students and professionals as well as
international media attention. In addition to the ideas
and resources shared during these events, attendees
further develop their personal networks, form new
friendships, and explore business opportunities.
In 2009, GCC and Peking University co-hosted a “Media Literacy Initiative”
which included a visit to The New York Times’headquarters.
CHAPTER INITIATIVES
GCC chapters organize and manage a variety of
projects both in China and around their campuses,
ranging from ongoing engagements such as
philanthropic activities in Western China and
language exchange networks to localized social
events, conferences, and cultural events. These
activities bring together students and current leaders
to work on projects to directly impact the cultivation
of the international community. In 2010, GCC
chapters are planning over 100 such activities,
many of which will engage the entire GCC network.
MULTIMEDIA
GCC produces media content that contributes to
the conversation about China’s future, particularly
in regards to how China’s development will affect
the leaders of tomorrow. Students are empowered
through the GCC network to publish articles,
audio interviews, and video material that share
knowledge and experiences with the network as
well as the outside world. Likewise, the content
and resources from media partners complements the
work of our members. This content is featured on
the GCC website, social media platforms, and GCC
Insights, our monthly publication and newsletter.
PROGRAMS ABROAD
International internships and delegations help our
members build relationships and integrate their
coursework with their knowledge of Chinese culture
and language. Delegations allow students from
foreign universities to meet with local officials
and business leaders, experience daily life in a
different country, and of course, make new friends.
Internships allow our most talented and motivated
members to apply the skills acquired through GCC
to practical work experience in China. Participation
in these activities is competitive, available to active
GCC members who apply for program positions.

utilized Global China Connection to create something
new. Some examples of chapters in action include:
• GCC-Harvard taking the SICA Peking

from the information distributed at the event.
