Douglas Elliott Berry was born in 1920 in Ottawa and lived at 792 Somerset St. He attended local schools and was involved in various sports. Berry enlisted in the military in 1940 and served as an air gunner and observer in the 428th Squadron of the RCAF. On February 2nd, 1945, Berry's aircraft burst into flames and exploded over Wiesbaden, Germany while on a flight, and his body was never recovered. He is commemorated with a gravestone at the Durnbach War Cemetery in Germany.

It also examined the 1971 murder case of Helen Betty Osborne, a 19-year-old Aboriginal student, which took over 15 years to solve. The Inquiry found significant differences in how Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal suspects and victims were treated by police. It sought to address issues of over-incarceration of Aboriginal people and lack of Aboriginal representation in the justice system.

Scout witnesses prejudice firsthand as her father, Atticus, defends Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white woman. The novel also features Arthur "Boo" Radley, a mysterious neighbor who is rumored to be a monster and is never seen outside. In the end, despite Atticus's efforts, the biased jury unjustly convicts and sentences Tom Robinson to death.

We’ll consider the wider challenges of representing diverse ethnicities or sexual/gender identities of historical individuals with today’s language, and examine how what museums say (and don’t say) about a person’s life has a profound impact on visitors.

Vijay Tendulkar was a renowned Indian playwright born in 1928 to a lower middle class family in India. One of his most famous plays, Silence! The Court is in Session, explores several controversial issues of 1960s Indian society including gender discrimination, moral conduct, and the oppression of women through the legal system. The play tells the story of Leela Benare, an unmarried schoolteacher in her 30s, who is subjected to a mock trial by her fellow actors during rehearsal.
