What does Intrax provide? (back to top)
Intrax provides:
    • The DS2019 form
    • The SEVIS receipt
    • Basic Heath Insurance
    • A pre-departure Orientation
    • A toll free hotline with 24 hour emergency assistance
    • On-going personal assistance.

How long can I have a J1 visa for? (back to top)
Career Training participants can have a J-1 visa for a maximum of 18 months. (Trainings in
Hospitality and Tourism have a maximum duration of 12 months.)
Internship participants can have a J-1 visa for a maximum of 12 months.

Can I participate in the career training program or internship program more than once?
(back to top)
You can participate in the Career Training program more than once. However, you much leave
the US for at least two years between programs and the training program must not repeat
previous training.
Internship participants can participate in the Internship program more than once. Repeat
participants are not required to be outside of the US for any specific amount of time between
programs, however they must return to their home country between programs.
Internship participants who wish to do a Career Training program must leave the US for at least
two years between programs.

Can I get paid, should I get paid for this training program? (back to top)
You can get paid as J-1 Trainee or Intern. How much you get paid is up to your host company.
Intrax recommends that you have at least $1000.00 per month to support your self. If your host
company is not going to pay you at least $1,000.00 per month, we will ask for a financial
statement showing that you will have funds from another source for the balance of the
$1000.00. Or if you are doing an update Career Training/Internship we will need a financial
statement showing that you will have at least $1000.00 per month to support yourself.

What are the requirements for my Host Company? (back to top)
Your Host Company will have to have the following requirements
   • Dun and Bradstreet Number (this is easy to get online)
   • An EIN number
   • A valid Worker’s Compensation policy
   • A functional website
   • At least 25 employees or at least 3 million in annual revenue

How long does the application process take? (back to top)
The application process usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. The participant generally spends this time
completing the application forms and gathering all the necessary information. This timeframe
can be much shorter if the applicant is able to complete these forms more quickly.

How long until I get my DS 2019 form? (back to top)
Once all documents including payment have been received and your application has been
accepted, Intrax will ship the DS 2019 form to you within 2 weeks. Please be sure that the
address that you use on your application form is the correct mailing address.

What are my responsibilities? (back to top)
Other than completing the application forms for Intrax, the applicant has a few other
responsibilities.
   1. *Schedule a visa interview with the US Embassy in your home country.
   2. Complete the required documents for the visa interview.
   3. Communicate your travel plans with your Host Company.

*Canadian citizens are not required to interview for a visa at the Visa Embassy.

How do I schedule a visa interview? (back to top)
To schedule a visa interview go to the US Embassy’s website for your home country. Click on
the tab at the top of the page labeled “Visas.” Then browse the site for information on
scheduling a visa.

What documents do I need to take with me to the visa interview? (back to top)
You will need to take several documents with you the visa interview. They are:
   1. DS2019 form (Provided by Intrax)
   2. SEVIS Receipt (Provided by Intrax)
   3. DS7002 from signed by the Applicant, Host Company and Intrax. (The Intrax signed
       version of this form will be sent to you with your DS2019 form and SEVIS receipt)
   4. DS156
   5. DS157 (males only)
   6. DS158
   7. Receipt for payment of the visa interview fee
   8. 2 Passport photos
   9. A valid Passport
   10. Evidence of Ties to Your Home Country
Where do I get the DS156, DS 157, and DS158 forms? (back to top)
These forms are available to download on the US Embassy website.
Please be sure to complete the DS 156 online and print it with the bar code that will be added
once you complete the form.

What is Evidence of Ties to My Home Country? (back to top)
Evidence of Ties to Your Home Country are documents that show that you are intending to
return to your home country when your program is over. These documents could include the
following.
     • Property Titles showing you or your family own land, a house or an apartment in your
        home country
     • Bank Statements showing you have a bank account in your home country
     • A job offer for when you return to your home country
     • Pictures of your family and friends in your home country
You should bring one or two of these documents with you to the visa interview.

(males only) that you will need to complete for the visa interview. (back to top)

On the DS-156 form
26. How Long Do You Intend To Stay in The U.S.?
The answer here should be the length of your program.

27. What is The Purpose of Your Trip?
The answer should be “Career Training” if you are a Career Training participant or
“Internship” if you are an internship participant.

28. Who Will Pay For Your Trip?
If you are paying for your plane tickets please answer “myself.” If someone else is paying for your
travel to the US please list their name and relationship to you.

32. Do You Intend To Work in The U.S.?
If you are a Career Training participant please answer “no” you will be doing a Career Training. If you are
an Internship participant please answer “yes”

On the DS-157 form
8. Full Name and Address of Contact Person or Organization in the United States (Include
Telephone Number)
You should complete this section with the contact information for host company.

16. Have You Ever Been in an Armed Conflict, Either as a Participant or Victim?
What is the meaning of conflict?
Here they are referring to war type activity. They are using this terminology because it may not have been
labeled a war.

18. Have You Made Specific Travel Arrangements?
Please indicate the date you plan to travel to the US.

(back to top) Your Host Company will have to have the following requirements • Dun and Bradstreet Number (this is easy to get online) • An EIN number • A valid Worker’s Compensation policy • A functional website • At least 25 employees or at least 3 million in annual revenue How long does the application process take? (back to top) The application process usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. The participant generally spends this time completing the application forms and gathering all the necessary information. This timeframe can be much shorter if the applicant is able to complete these forms more quickly. How long until I get my DS 2019 form? (back to top) Once all documents including payment have been received and your application has been accepted, Intrax will ship the DS 2019 form to you within 2 weeks. Please be sure that the address that you use on your application form is the correct mailing address. What are my responsibilities? (back to top) Other than completing the application forms for Intrax, the applicant has a few other responsibilities. 1. *Schedule a visa interview with the US Embassy in your home country. 2. Complete the required documents for the visa interview. 3. Communicate your travel plans with your Host Company. *Canadian citizens are not required to interview for a visa at the Visa Embassy. How do I schedule a visa interview? (back to top) To schedule a visa interview go to the US Embassy’s website for your home country. Click on the tab at the top of the page labeled “Visas.” Then browse the site for information on scheduling a visa. What documents do I need to take with me to the visa interview? (back to top) You will need to take several documents with you the visa interview. They are: 1. DS2019 form (Provided by Intrax) 2. SEVIS Receipt (Provided by Intrax) 3. DS7002 from signed by the Applicant, Host Company and Intrax. (The Intrax signed version of this form will be sent to you with your DS2019 form and SEVIS receipt) 4. DS156 5. DS157 (males only) 6.   • 3. Where do I get the DS156, DS 157, and DS158 forms? (back to top) These forms are available to download on the US Embassy website. Please be sure to complete the DS 156 online and print it with the bar code that will be added once you complete the form. What is Evidence of Ties to My Home Country? (back to top) Evidence of Ties to Your Home Country are documents that show that you are intending to return to your home country when your program is over. These documents could include the following. • Property Titles showing you or your family own land, a house or an apartment in your home country • Bank Statements showing you have a bank account in your home country • A job offer for when you return to your home country • Pictures of your family and friends in your home country You should bring one or two of these documents with you to the visa interview. The following questions are in regard to specific questions on the DS DS158 and 157 (males only) that you will need to complete for the visa interview. (back to top) On the DS-156 form 26. How Long Do You Intend To Stay in The U.S.? The answer here should be the length of your program. 27. What is The Purpose of Your Trip? The answer should be “Career Training” if you are a Career Training participant or “Internship” if you are an internship participant. 28. Who Will Pay For Your Trip? If you are paying for your plane tickets please answer “myself.” If someone else is paying for your travel to the US please list their name and relationship to you. 32. Do You Intend To Work in The U.S.? If you are a Career Training participant please answer “no” you will be doing a Career Training. If you are an Internship participant please answer “yes” On the DS-157 form 8. Full Name and Address of Contact Person or Organization in the United States (Include Telephone Number) You should complete this section with the contact information for host company. 16. Have You Ever Been in an Armed Conflict, Either as a Participant or Victim? What is the meaning of conflict? Here they are referring to war type activity. They are using this terminology because it may not have been labeled a war. 18. Have You Made Specific Travel Arrangements? Please indicate the date you plan to travel to the US.
