This document analyzes fleet data from over 9,000 work orders on 900 photovoltaic power plants totaling 2.5 gigawatts of capacity. The analysis finds that inverter outages account for nearly 50% of recorded incidents and lost energy production. While a small minority of inverter issues relate to warranties, they have an outsized impact due to lengthy resolution times. Inverter and downstream outages combined account for around 90% of lost opportunity. The analysis also finds that long-term estimates of plant performance tend to underestimate the impact of snowfall on rooftop systems in northern regions.

Global Validation of the REST2 Solar Model From VaisalaGwendalyn Bender
Vaisala created a global validation of the REST2 clear sky model used for determining solar irradiance for use in solar PV development. This presentation details the process used and the results.
This presentation discusses a use case of IoT, information convergence and predictive analytics in thermal power plants. It provides a basic framework of data aggregation/collation in plants and then the use of the collected data for informed decision making.
Typical Meteorological Year Use in Solar Energy Assessments by VaisalaGwendalyn Bender
When determining energy output from utility scale solar projects when is it appropriate to use just a TMY and when should you use a long-term time series? This presentation compares both methodologies at 20 project sites to help answer the question.

Asset risk management of bulk materials handling machines rrmorgan1209
Large materials handling machines such as stackers, reclaimers and shiploaders are typically of welded steel construction balanced by a large counterweight. They are normally capable of long travelling, slewing and luffing motions and must withstand repetitive dynamic loads. Historically, such machines have experienced higher failure rates than other types of structures. The main risks are typically machine collisions, corrosion and structural fatigue cracking. The structural integrity of a machine is dependent on the structural, mechanical, electrical, and control systems operating correctly. The distinguishing feature of mobile equipment for continuous handling of bulk materials is the inherent high level of risk and the very large cost of addressing the failure consequences. This
difference justifies specific processes to manage this risk.
