International reporting involves correspondents stationed in other countries sending reports back to their home organizations. Correspondents must account for time differences and quickly and accurately report on important events and crises while assessing information objectively. Knowledge of foreign languages and proper documentation like passports and visas are also important for foreign correspondents to have when traveling abroad.

1. International reporting
• Some big news channel can afford to have their own
correspondents stationed in the big cities of the world.
•These foreign correspondents regularly send reports to
their organization.
•Sometimes, special correspondents are also sent to
cover special events like a royal coronation, general
election in a foreign country, or some international trade
fair or exhibition.send their reporters from time to time
to cover important events.

• The foreign reporter is faced with the
problem of the time factor. Generally, there
is a time difference between his home
country and the country where he is
stationed.
• A foreign reporter must try to know the
time difference between his country and the
country where he is stationed.
• For example, the Indian time is 5-1/2 hours
ahead of the London time.

3. International reporting
• A foreign correspondent should be a good observer of
things, especially when she/he is covering some crisis,
war or insurgency. Sometimes, press reporters who do
not have any rivalry, join hands together to exchange
whatever information they can get.
• A foreign correspondent should also be a good judge
of things and men. People might tell him very
dramatic stories, but he should assess all the
information with his common sense, so that he is
neither taken in by the official propaganda nor by the
exaggerated unofficial reports.

5. A foreign correspondent, should also
keep the following points in mind -
• He must have a valid passport with him.
• Some countries require a visitor to obtain a visa
before entry.
• He must get himself properly vaccinated before
leaving his country.
Generally countries require a valid vaccination
certificate for typhoid and small pox. For tropical
countries yellow fever and cholera vaccinations
are also necessary.

6. A foreign correspondent, should also
keep the following points in mind -
• You should carry your cheque book,
personal insurance policy, camera and a
watch, a few clothes, portable typewriter ,
shaving box, your first-aid kit, towel etc.
• You must keep in touch with your home
office by telephone, internet etc.
