This document outlines 10 easy steps to integrate ServiceNow and JIRA using ONEiO. It involves setting up a ONEiO subscription, creating endpoints for ServiceNow and JIRA, configuring webhooks, and creating routing rules to connect the two systems. Once configured, tasks and activities from IT and development shown together to enable collaboration across teams.
2. ServiceNow and JIRA
are two of the most
widely used platforms
around the world.
ServiceNow accounts for 51% of the experience
management sector while JIRA has quickly
become one of the most widely used project
and task management tools in the world. These
two platforms are commonly integrated to
show the tasks and activities of IT and
development together and to enable
collaboration between IT, Development and
Business Services departments.
3. 1. Set Up Your
ONEiO Subscription
Visit oneio.cloud/free-trial
Enter your details and you will recieve an email
to set up your Free 14 Day Trial account where
you have the option to integrate ServiceNow,
JIRA and Zendesk.
4. Select your ‘Endpoints’ from the ONEiO
Dashboard and you are provided the option to
‘Create New Endpoint’. Here you have the
option of selecting ServiceNow, JIRA, or
Zendesk
(An Endpoint is a package of adapters, API’s, code
and rules. It is bi-directional and enables unlimited
communication and integration
capacity.)
2. Creating your
first endpoints
5. Select the JIRA Endpoint and the General tab,
enter your JIRA URL Login, set the integration
status to Active and hit Test Connection. This
will ping your JIRA URL and respond with a
successful response.

6. Head over to your JIRA in a new tab and visit
your System - Advanced - Webhooks and
select Add A Webhook and name and enable
your webhook before saving. Return to
ONEiO, copy the Webhook Target URL and
paste this into your JIRA Webhook. Now check
‘Created’ and ‘Updated’ from the Issues and
Comments headers in JIRA.

7. Create a user in JIRA by going to Settings -
User Management - Invite Users. A
confirmation will be sent, log out of JIRA and
back in under this new login and create an API
Token in Jira. Then return to ONEiO, type your
login details under the Endpoint, and paste the
API Token. Then log out of JIRA and back in
with your original credentials and check your
messages in ONEiO.
5. Creating your
‘Outbound integration
(ONEIO → JIRA)
8. Select the ServiceNow Endpoint and the
General tab, enter your ServiceNow URL
Login, set the time zone, set the integration
status to Active and hit Test Connection. This
will ping your ServiceNow URL and respond
with a successful response.

9. Open ServiceNow and visit System - Web
Services - REST Message and create a message
with standard configuration data , select
Preview and Commit Update. Return to the
REST Message dashboard, set your credentials
and copy your username from the ONEiO
Endpoint, enter this into your ServiceNow
credentials and Test.
7. Create the inbound
(ServiceNow → ONEiO)

10. In the ONEiO endpoint, you will now see that
API Credentials have been created. This user
will now need to be created in ServiceNow
with the roles Web_Service_Admin and ITIL and
make sure the passwords in ServiceNow match
the ones entered in ONEiO.
Now both endpoints are all set up!
8. Create the outbound
endpoint (ONEiO →
ServiceNow)
11. Select ‘Routing Rules’ from the ONEiO dash-
board and click Integrate Endpoints. Select
your Entity Types and enter your Issue ID for
JIRA. Repeat this for ServiceNow and ONEiO’s
Rule Robots will set everything in place for
your integration to work right away.
