Horror films generated $9.1 billion from 1995 to 2012, ranking seventh among genres. Though not the most popular currently, comedy ranks first, followed by adventure and drama. Re-releases are becoming more popular, as the top film of 2013 is estimated to be the re-release of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 3D. However, box office returns declined in summer 2012, possibly due to increased internet piracy. Several major studios have found success distributing horror films since 2004, with Lionsgate distributing 20% and Warner Brothers 19% of the top films.
