Institute for Drought Research and Global Greening in Africa, Europe and South Asia
Greening Deserts founders and researchers explore with various projects not only drylands wand arid ecosystems, but also wetlands such as floodplains, alluvial forests, wet forests, bogs or swamps, lake and river landscapes. The Drought Research Institute is a project of the Global Greening and Trillion Trees Initiative. The world's first international research institute for drought, climate and environmental research invites reliable partners and sponsors to participate in ongoing project developments.

1. Institute for Drought Research and Global Greening in Africa, Europe
and South Asia
In 2020, Oliver Caplikas, a drought and climate researcher from Leipzig, had
the idea of founding a drought research institute and developing international
projects in this context. Global drought research and drought problems will still
be of enormous importance for humanity, if they are not already since the
severe drought years.
The Institute for Global Greening, Drought, Climate and Environmental
Research will be established at the first greening camp in Europe and Africa.
Until then, the Global Greening Deserts Network and the Trillion Trees Initiative
will serve as platforms. The international Institute for Drought Research is
part of the Global Greening Organization, an additional urban and global
greening solutions company. There will be a dedicated online platform for the
scientific projects after proper funding and later also dedicated offices in key
countries - especially in regions that are very affected by droughts and need
better solutions, regionally to internationally. The headquarters will probably be
in Germany, if it is supported by Germany, the city of Leipzig and Saxony,
maybe even in the Urban Greening Camp. Other facilities will be located at
Greening Camps in Southern Europe, in Greece, Italy and Spain. An institute is
also planned for North Africa, which will be located in one of the largest camps,
the Greening Campus Africa. In principle, research departments and small
laboratories will be set up at all greening facilities, e.g. in containers or buses,
as these can then also be used on a mobile basis for field research and
professional greening. Special aircraft and balloons are used for large greening
and reforestation projects, which are also interesting for sustainable tourism.
See also our Seeding Balloons project.
Global greening efforts can be more successful if more is done to address the
root causes of deforestation and land degradation. This includes addressing the
causes of deforestation, such as the expansion of destructive agriculture,
open-pit coal or lignite mining, and the development of unsustainable
infrastructure. In addition, much more needs to be done to address social and
economic issues, as well as poor land use practices, poverty issues, lack of
access to education, health care, healthy food, water, and other essential
resources. Corruption, ignorance and political instability, poor governance or
management are other important factors. Unless all of these factors are
addressed and resolved in the right way, it is very difficult or even impossible
to truly change the problems mentioned. Corruption, lack of will, lack of
support and lack of understanding are perhaps the biggest problem of our time
- they make everything worse and drive humanity into the conflicts and wars
we see today. You can read more details about these problems and really
effective solutions like peace building or peace building in some other Greening
Deserts articles. Soon there will be another article about global greening,
peace building and very innovative solutions that can really improve many
things. The project Friedensbriefe.de (PeaceLetters) for better and faster
peacebuilding was launched last year as part of the PeaceSpeech-Campaign,
it aims to promote German and European peace processes – in case we finally
2. receive support for our projects and work from the European Union.
Of course, it also depends on you and many people around the world to
identify causes, communicate and convince the local population or national
government to finally understand the real causes and sustainable solutions -
and especially to focus on solving the root causes and not fighting the
symptoms or windmills as often! Honest, sustainable and environmentally
conscious actions, sustainable consumption and lifestyles should be taken more
seriously by all and thus also contribute to a better society and healthier world.
Global Greening, Sustainable Living, sustainable consumption, production
and work worldwide and the realization of real change should be terms and
changes of these years. #GlobalGreening #SustainableLiving
If more people work together and harness the potential of good technology
and social innovation, we can create a more sustainable and resilient future for
ourselves and all life on the planet. It is also very important to consider the
role of social developments and innovations. Social and truly sustainable
developments and the implementation of new solutions to social and
environmental challenges can improve many things - if more people believe in
it, accept it, or even get it right. The involvement of communities and civil
society is one of the main tasks, such as through the public and social work of
Greening Deserts, which can be seen on social platforms and project pages.
Global Greening and Urban Greening Camps
Greening Camps are designed to provide greater biodiversity in cities, urban
areas and greener landscapes. The Greening Camp concept is an innovative
model for all major cities and landscapes in need of better, faster and more
efficient greening, re-greening, reforestation, renewable energy storage and
water management. The entire concept and Master Plan X have never been
published before or only in excerpts and internally on scientific platforms. Only
trusted partners have insight to protect important key elements and factors
from misuse. Many parts are even only available in printed form on paper,
maybe soon on hemp paper, this is also a lead project. Hemp is a key crop of
the Greening Deserts greening projects, as well as bamboo, not only for soil
improvement and more soil water, the production of millions of tons of hemp is
planned by 2030, that's why the project Agrarhanf.org was started.
Trees can be cultivated or protected indoors for many years, even in drought
areas or difficult terrain. That's why the Urban Greening Camp and Research
Facility for Climate Adaptation, Diverse Tree Planting and Vertical Farming was
launched in 2020 - also to test and improve many things related to indoor tree
farming. It is the world's first vertical farming company that has started
researching and growing trees, palms, shrubs, herbs and other crops indoors.
The focus is on endangered plant and tree species, and the international
CESRPP program supports research. Each major facility will have additional
seed storage and breeding rooms. Each greening camp can use solar, wind and
hydro energy. There are even the first imitators, such as from Scotland and
3. Australia - the Drought Research Institute will share innovative solutions for
better global greening and drought research with experts from around the
world.
Special research forests will support climate research and climate change
adaptation. For this purpose, the project WetForest.org and PalmForest.org
were founded, the names actually say it all. It is about diverse moist forests
and palm forests which can replace monotonous forests and monocultures in
forestry, moreover coniferous forests are very susceptible to droughts and
forest fires. Well-grown and healthy forest stands should be supplemented with
more forest plants and especially ground cover to adapt them even better to
climate change. Forest lakes and ponds can also increase the moisture of
forests in dry areas. More about this on our projects and social pages.
Global greening policies and efforts are essential for promoting sustainable
development and mitigating the effects of climate change. Urban greening,
ecological forestry, agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, and vertical farming
are important components of a comprehensive strategy to promote sustainable
land use practices and sustainable ways of living, producing, and working.
These approaches should be complemented by the use of truly effective and
sustainable technologies, policies and regulations that promote sustainability,
social innovation, international collaboration, and financing. If we all work
together more and engage with civil society, we can create a more sustainable
and resilient future for our planet.
The world's first international research institute for drought, climate and
environmental research invites reliable partners and sponsors to participate in
ongoing project developments. We are also looking for particularly financially
strong partners to participate in international, innovative, sustainable and
forward-looking developments and projects such as the Global Greening and
Trillion Trees Initiative for Africa, Europe and India. Different participation and
investment models are possible as well as different cooperations or even
collaborations. For this, you can simply make an appointment, via PM on
Twitter or by eMail. #DroughtResearch.org
