Inspired Generations Program
The Inspired Generations (IG) program aims to identify a list of approved and certified projects, by local stakeholders including the
youth, for a sustainable development.
First, the IG program mobilises all the local key stakeholders to make a diagnosis at subnational level, then to establish a multi stake-
holders Local Committee for Sustainable Development (LCSD). This LCSD proposes a common long-term sustainable development
strategy allowing the certification of a projects’ list responding to the identified priorities, accepted by the civil society and to be
supported during their implementation. This process also supports the projects durability as well as facilitating the development of
Public-Private Partnerships for sustainable infrastructure projects.
This initiative contributes to the promotion of integrated planning, with the aim of a better resilience of the Indian Ocean territories, of
IOC's ISLANDS program.

° Better involvement in the implementation of international/regional/national
sustainable development strategies
° Greater projects’ acceptability and sustainability
° More coherent actions and results’ evaluation
Better link with the youth:
° Greater participation and awareness of young people
° Facilitating implementation of projects on the field
° Finding innovative solutions with young entrepreneurs
° Solving challenges with their creativity and to involve communities
Better projects preparation for better access to funding:
° Sharing good practices and solutions in the region
° Accessing technical support from the Convention on Biological
Diversity (CBD) and the program's partners
° Benefiting from the IG project certification to facilitate access to technical
and financial partners
° Ensuring good governance and good funds management
IG Program Objectives for 2016–2018
° Promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) integrated planning and the implementation of SAMOA Pathway
in the Indian Ocean region.
° Continue the stakeholders’ mobilization and increase their involvement in the 9 LCSD.
° Reinforce sustainable development local activities carried out by LCSD among the civil society and particularly among
young people as part of their local action plan.
° Support the implementation of IG certified pilot projects
° Organise a new regional forum in 2017 to certify new projects, share best practices and present the new results.
° As from 2016, expand the process through the creation of at least 3 new LCSD
