There are several technical challenges associated with deploying SCORM content because the current technologies used in SCORM are based on HTTP and JavaScript, which have limited support on mid-end mobile devices. Participants in this session will learn the issues related to deploying SCORM content on mobile devices. Many people are looking for a more lightweight mobile-friendly version of SCORM that can be deployed on mobile devices. This session will look at existing technologies that can be leveraged as alternatives, rather than waiting for SCORM to be updated. You’ll see several example use cases of SCORM implementations and hear the lessons learned from ADL.

The BlogForever project aims to develop tools for preserving weblogs (blogs) by capturing their dynamic and networked nature. It is a collaborative European Union-funded research project led by various university partners. The University of Warwick will play a primary role in studying blog structure and semantics to inform the design of the project's digital preservation policies and infrastructure. The goals are to produce tools that can archive blogs in a way that maintains their authenticity, integrity, and long-term accessibility as cultural and intellectual resources.

During this talk, I will present the last version of MoKi, the wiki-based tool designed for supporting such a framework and I will show how this tool has been customized and extended in several projects in order to face the different challenges raised by the usage of semantic representations in different domains.

In this presentation, we discuss the integration pf OpenSyllabus, a scenario creation tool, to EMAEVAL, a competency management and gradebook tool. OpenSyllabus proposes a model-based approach to create simple scenarios to describe activities, actors and resources (competencies, files, evaluation rubrics, comments, etc.). EMAEVAL offers extensive functionalities to describe competencies frameworks, coordinate the actors’ tasks including those of the tutors, validate students’ competencies, produce summary reports and emit proficiency certificates according to simple or elaborate rules. This integration offers a very nice flexibility for learning scenarios yet preserving a very robust back-end to monitor students’ accomplishments.

RPI Planner is a course planning tool similar to RPI Scheduler but plans an entire degree program rather than a single semester. It is being updated to add more flexibility in planning degree programs and include more complete course and degree databases. Key upcoming work includes completing the course database by developing a parser to import courses from RPI sources and adding additional flexibility and usability features based on suggestions.

Sean Austin conducted research on July 22nd, 2011 into user interface design. He found more information than expected and validated the need for a concise resource for developers. He identified several relevant books and began developing a weather application prototype for Android 1.6+ to explore design decisions and gain user feedback. His next steps were to refine the prototype's user interface, add GPS functionality, and launch it on the Android Marketplace.
