The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the vast network of physical objects—"things"—embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the internet or other networks. These "things" can range from everyday household items like smart thermostats and appliances to sophisticated industrial machinery and complex systems in transportation and healthcare. Crucially, these devices don't necessarily need to connect to the public internet; a local network suffices, provided each device has a unique address
