Ananya Jain, Devashree Arora, Disha Arya, Drishti Arya And Sukanya Joshi Class 8 Vasant Valley School
Outreach Program “ Didi, mera sapna hain ki mein bade ho kar ek bahut mashoor doctor banoo” One of our little friends said The outreach program at Vasant Valley School is aimed at educating underprivileged children and fulfilling their dreams . The children from the nearby slums come everyday to our school All 5 of us have volunteered to stay back after school and teach these children. We have been teaching them for a year now and we love it
Our Objective To highlight the following issues: to have an insight into plight of these poor children. that children from underprivileged homes need to have access to quality education as well that underprivileged children also deserve a chance at equality that these children too have the right to express their feelings.
What draws the children? The whole idea of proper education in a big school is itself very inviting. It is not only plain academics but a lot of fun activities. A place where they are not physically or verbally abused is very new and welcoming to them. We always spend the last 15 minutes of our session with them in the jhoola bari(play ground) - they enjoy playing here!
What inspires us Every time we see a smile on their face it brings one to ours as well The fact that we are the only people who encourage them to follow their dreams makes us feel proud. We also accept them as they are and treat them as our friends and not someone different We also enjoy teaching them - no one forces us to stay back after school and do so.
Our Experiences With Them!
The future of the programme We would like to see the children get basic education so they can fulfill their dreams Through this programme, we encourage this group to spread the message wider – to go back to their slum and bring in more such children. Apart from teaching them academics, we also teach them the basic life skills that we have learnt so they can be ready for the big world out there. We wish to encourage more students and alumni from our school to join in the programme
