Students at GPS Vengal Rao Nagar school in Hyderabad, India organized an awareness campaign about the harmful effects of plastic after witnessing animals harmed by plastic bags. They conducted mass meetings and a rally to educate the community about plastic waste. Over 100 people including local leaders and municipal officials participated. The students made paper bags and clay idols as alternatives to plastic. They distributed the bags and explained their usage. As an outcome, the local shop owners and parents became more aware of the problems with plastic and agreed to use paper bags instead. The students also declared their school a "no plastic zone."
