Stephan Hardt approached the Illinois Sustainability Technological Center (ISTC) in 2014 about establishing a partnership between ISTC and the Instituto de Tecnologia Aplicada e Qualificacao (ITAQ) in Brazil to explore sustainable solutions. Illinois Sustainable Technology Center Recommendation to Stephan Hardt
- 1. November 23, 2015 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing this letter to recommend and express Mr. Stephan Hardt working skills, personality and accomplishments perceived while working with him through the partnership between ISTC (Illinois Sustainability Technological Center – University of Illinois) and ITAQ (Instituto de Tecnologia Aplicada e Qualificacao) from Brazil. Mr. Hardt, had approached ISTC in March of 2014 through a cold call in which he expressed interest in establishing a partnership between ISTC, and ITAQ with the objective to explore sustainable solutions in Brazil through technology/know-how transfer. After several discussions regarding market opportunities and strategic partnership models, we offered him and ITAQ the opportunity to present at a Sustainable Seminar at University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign in October 2014 about the Waste Panorama in Brazil and the Best Practices in Doing Business in this complex country (Brazil). The audience was very satisfied with the technical information presented and Mr. Stephan Hardt was able to answer very well the questions asked. After having the opportunity to meet Stephan face-to-face and based on the presentation delivered, we were comfortable to go ahead and firm this partnership between ISTC and ITAQ. Stephan had served also as the Lead Point of Contact for the Joint Working Group Sessions that was held on a bi-weekly basis. In these meetings we were able to develop great new project opportunities, such as the International Carbon Capture and Storage Consortium, National Center for Supercomputing Applications, and Sustainable Training Courses to Companies in Brazil. He has played a key role in ITAQ for the success of the partnership and relationship between our institutes and projects. While working with Stephan Hardt through these projects, I observed great international business, project management, and business ethics.
