Legacy
 His unique circumstances (born in Bosnia to Croat parents,
later living and working in Serbia) made him a Yugoslav
hero.
 He had been a believer in Yugoslav Unity.
 Despite International fame, he invested in the development
of the countries literature resources for future generations.
 Was the most translated author in east Europe.
 His native house in Travnik has been transformed into a
Museum, and his Belgrade flat hosts the Museum of Ivo
Andrić.
1961- Nobel Prize for Literature "for the epic force with which he has traced
themes and depicted human destinies drawn from the history of his country"

 Performance artist (career began in exploring relationship between performer and
audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind).
 2010- Museum of Modern Art held a major retrospective and performance recreation of
her work, the biggest exhibition of performance art in MoMA's history.
 During the run of the exhibition, Abramović performed "The Artist is Present," a 736-
hour and 30-minute static, silent piece, in which she sat immobile in the museum's
atrium while spectators were invited to take turns sitting opposite her.
