One in 20 people in the US will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer and 40% of those of screening age are not up-to-date on their colorectal screening. Colorado’s screening rate is about 67% with a goal of reaching 80% and about 70% of those not up-to-date with screening have health insurance.
Employers are in a unique position to encourage employees to get screened. This presentation will cover why early detection is important to help keep healthcare costs down, recommended screening methods, evidence based messaging and interventions, and additional tools and resources that will help employers implement a screening program.
Content marketing, we believe, is the emerging face of digital marketing and content will be at the core of all meaningful consumer engagements. Companies need to address the challenges and opportunities that this will throw up. The key to success is making content meaningful and relevant to the consumer. Understanding the consumer journey and mapping content to the different stages of that journey is a task that companies need to undertake. Currently, content marketing is being primarily used as a pre-sales tool with an emphasis on lead generation. We believe companies need to learn to engage customers post-sales as well, using content to build long terms relationships. Given the emergence of smart phones and other mobile devices in our everyday lives, B2B marketers along with their digital partners need to unscramble the code on how to effectively use mobile as a powerful tool in their content strategy.
We also feel that newer channels and content types need to be explored and marketers who discover and adopt them will stand to gain. To leverage the emerging trend of videos, and innovate on content delivery, marketers need to convince their boards to loosen the purse strings and invest in content marketing. The companies that succeed in this endeavour will emerge as winners in what we think will be the next revolution in marketing.

LinkedIn Mobile runs a node.js server powering clients on three platforms: iPhone, Android and mobile web. The server aggregates data from downstream services using HTTP, services such as Voldemort data stores and rest.li web services. At first, emulating a client and exercising the server API made sense to validate the server. As the integration test suite expanded to over 200 tests, and the number of developers grew, the test suite became too slow and unreliable to depend on. The downstream HTTP requests incurred network latencies and were subject to the health of the downstream services. This talk walks through how LinkedIn is addressing the challenges of scaling a complex testing infrastructure in order to release quality code, and how we developed a open-source tool called sepia to help other companies do the same.

Thomas Bøhn will provide a birds-eye-view on how agriculture and food production is developing globally. In general, we build on the industrial model that adapts nature to our technologies with two main aims: quantity and low costs. This implies (i) large machines, (ii) high external input (fossil fuels, pesticides), (iii) homogenization and mono-cropping. What we are losing is (i) genetic diversity (at several levels), (ii) environmental integrity, (iii) contact with farmers, farms, soils, cultural traditions, and a diverse diet.
Are we able to improve a system we have lost contact with? We need to embrace and enhance the diversity/complexity of natural systems, and work more with local solutions. Agroecology is an inspiring scientific approach to use ecological knowledge for sustainable and healthy food production, with a specific aim to increase the resilience (a systems ability to return to a dynamic equilibrium after shock) of our total food system. The food system is at a cross-road. Where do we go from here?
