This let’s us all change the conversation we have with our clients. [Go through dialog on the screen]
Storage Hardware $328k (80 JBODs, 800 disks) with 100 to 1 HDD to SSD ratio 880,000 IOPs (max config) / 300 IOPs (max for HDD) = 2,932 The SSD and Each of the adapters has an effective IO limit. Current estimates are: 200GB eMLC drive - 30k IOPs Ripley - 240k IOPs Bluefield -33k IOPs The effective IOPs will be the combination of these two, will more cards and adapters the IOPs are additive, but whichever is the limiting factor will set the IOPs and more of the other adds no benefit. So Ideal scenarios are: Read Only . Megalon - at 960K IOPs with 4 Ripleys and 32 SSDs. Current limit is 24 SSDs and 720 IOPs which use 3 Ripleys. (no benefit from adding a 4th Ripley when limited to 24 SSDs) (3 Ripleys leaves room for either redundant 10GB or redundant HBAs - 4 Ripleys leaves only one slot available) . Ghidorah - capped at 480k IOPs because of the 16 SSDs - requires only 2 Ripleys - no benefits from adding more Ripleys. Could realistically add up to 4 Fusion IO cards for an additional 400K IOPs for 880K IOPs (2 Ripley, 4 Fusion IO and still redundant 10GB Ethernet cards or HBAs - assuming one of the Ripleys or Fusion is in the internal slot) RAID 5 . Ghidorah - 132k IOPs with 4 Bluefields. (leaves up to 4 slots open) Adding additional drives does not increase further IOPs. Not any more SAS connectors to add more Bluefields. . Megalon - still 132k IOPs with 4 Bluefields. Few additional slots - 3 Bluefields and 99k IOPs potentially more realistic to keep two open slots. But you can do a larger total GB capacity.
