Plendl wins $5,000 to benefit fair, FFA
Friday, March 29, 2013

By Joanne Glamm
Jordan Plendl, of rural Kingsley, is the Plymouth County
winner in America's Farmers Grow Communities program.
The Monsanto Fund program gives farmers the opportunity to
win a $2,500 donation to give to their favorite local nonprofit
organization.
Monsanto produces agriculture products.
The donation amount awarded to Plendl was doubled to a
total of $5,000 because Plymouth County was part of a federal
disaster declaration due to drought, according to a press
release from Monsanto.
Plendl selected the Plymouth County Fair Board and KingsleyPierson FFA to each receive $2,500 from his Monsanto Fund
donation.
"I figured they could use the money the best," he said.
Plymouth County Fair Board will use the donation to complete

Le Mars Daily Sentinel: Local News: Plendl wins $5,000 to benefit fair, FFA (03/29/13) 2 of 3 plumbing, electrical and fencing work in the livestock pavilion completed on the fairgrounds last year. K-P FFA will use the donation to support educational trips. Plendl is a former Kingsley-Pierson FFA member and 2004 K-P graduate who farms near Kingsley raising cattle, corn and soybeans. His Grow Communities donations were presented at a brief ceremony Wednesday at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in Le Mars. http://www.lemarssentinel.com/story/1954489.html Jase and Jordan Plendl, of Kingsley; and Doug Blezek, who represents Monsanto. Jordan Plendl chose the fair as one of two groups to receive money from the Monsanto Fund. [Click to enlarge] [Order this photo] Fair board members and K-P FFA representatives Sam Pratt and Ryan Langel accepted Monsanto Fund checks from Doug Blezek who represents Monsanto's DEKALB and Asgrow brands in Plymouth County. "We're very pleased that those are the groups Jordan picked," Blezek said. Plendl and his family use DEKALB seed and other Monsanto products, he said. "Jordan's father and family are involved in the DEKALB seed business," Blezek said. America's Farmers Grow Communities is an award from the Monsanto Fund given every year to one farmer in a county, Blezek said. "We encourage farmers to enter to improve community efforts when they have opportunity," he said.
