1. Over the past eight weeks in this course, I have been introduced to a lot of new vocabulary and
pieces of artwork from many different cultures and parts of the world. I think I will stop and look
at art and see it much differently. With all of the terms and having shared about different styles
of art, it makes you notice those things quicker now when I look at different creations. I think art
can be found in a lot of different parts of our daily lives, from what we see on our phones when
we are walking in the community and more.
Do you agree or disagree?Why?
2. So coming in to this art class I kept telling myself you have no clue about art so you have to
maintain open minded. As we started the first couple of weeks I was mind blown of how much
detail and history goes behind art. Also learned that art is not only paintings it can be various
things like sculptures, architecture or masks. Now I want to take my children to all the museums
near us so we can explore and learn together. My daughter who loves drawing, painting and be
creative would really appreciate me having a better perception of art. I may feel like I was
struggling in this class but I know for sure I have learned so much and appreciate my fellow
classmates and professor.
Do you agree or disagree?Why?.

1. I grew up in a family where everybody was close related with different
kind of arts so it was always part of my life. Spending long time watching
my aunt in her jewellery workshop and helping her when I was a kid made
a huge impact on my decision what I would like to be - and it was jeweler.
Although I do believe my style and probably understanding will change
over the lifetime now my idea is to combine art with functionality. By art I
mean colors, different sizes, non standard solutions while functionality is
comfort ability, clean forms and maybe I could even say minimalism.
When considering who made impact on my design ideas, I would consider
few things. Firstly, architecture studies. While creating a piece of jewellery
I feel like making small construction and each piece becomes wearable
miniature, with constructive ideas. Secondly, of course I was also
influenced by my studies in Copenhagen. Before coming here I was very
into creating jewelry with many colors, using different metals, while here I
became more interested into simplicity, comfort, clear forms and design.
Thirdly, although I do not know where I got it from, there is still need
inside me to create non-standard solutions, involve colors and sometimes
play with the size.
When I imagine my client I see a woman or man who is not afraid to stand
out from the crowd, be special, choose different patch and non-standard
solutions. On the same time, this woman or man is practical, living live like
others full of daily joys and challenges. Therefore, colors, non-standard
decisions, but on the same time simple forms and clean design is the way
I imagine my works.
As I told probably ideas and life will change the way I think but all above is
the way I like to work and create - finding equilibrium between
extraordinary art solutions and simplicity.
Your truthfully,
Ieva
