Heritage is defined as the material and immaterial patrimony that contributes to a people's culture and identity. It includes cultural items like castles, churches, homes, and parks, as well as intangible aspects such as literature, music, language, and customs. Portugal's cultural heritage encompasses traditions like Fado singing and costumes, as well as crafts, gastronomy, architectural sites, archaeological sites, and vestiges of natural and industrial history. This document was prepared by students in the 7th grade of the "Foreign Mirrors Club" at António Correia de Oliveira secondary school in Esposende, Portugal in October 2012.

This document outlines a collaborative project between academia and cultural heritage organizations to provide opportunities for knowledge exchange between postgraduate students, early career researchers, and practitioners. The project includes workshops, conferences, and scholarship schemes to help students build skills and networks outside their own institutions. Representatives from the University of Glasgow's HATII and Glasgow Life programs, as well as the Tall Ship organization, are involved in the project. They also conducted inventory and improved records at the Art Institute of Chicago for prints. They were advised to make the most of access to lectures and contacts. Later, they worked 28 hours a week assisting with a repatriation request and exhibit installation at the University of Denver Museum of Anthropology.

These are just a few of the experiences awaiting you as we rediscover the grand tour in our exploration of Italian thinkers, artists and inventors and their contributions to Western civilization. APPROACH: Participants engage with all their senses in exploring the history, sites and sounds of Italy. COSTS: Tour: $3,100 (includes: 23 nights accommodations – breakfast and WiFi included; Study Abroad fee; events/tours/admissions fees; in-country transportation) Out of pocket: $2,540 (estimated cost for: individual meals, optional excursions, transport to/from U.S. point of departure, gratuities and tips, and optional SIM Card/phone) Tuition: $753.20 (3 hours) The program is open to all KSU students, non-KSU students, and non-degree seeking participants.
