HTown Day 2012- Walter Ulrich
Walter Ulrich discussed the wonder and inspiration of entrepreneurship and its implications for Houston. Some of Houston's early entrepreneurs who helped shape the city included AC and JK Allen who founded the Allen Brothers Lumber Company, William Marsh Rice who established Rice University, George H. Herman who co-founded the Brown & Root engineering firm, and Jesse H. Jones who founded the Houston Industries corporation. More recent entrepreneurs include Dan Duncan who founded Enterprise Products, Bob McNair who founded the Houston Texans football franchise, and various founders of technology startups nurtured by the Houston Technology Center.
