Hüseyin Avni Lifij was an Ottoman-Turkish painter who lived from 1889 to 1927. He is known for his realistic paintings depicting scenes of everyday life in Turkey as well as landscapes. Some of his most famous works include Self Portrait, Dance in Village House, Allegory, and The Pitcher Carriers. He painted over 100 oil paintings during his career documenting people, places, and culture in Turkey during the early 20th century.
