UNFPA End of project report -FINAL
This document provides an end of project report for a project aimed at increasing access to and utilization of modern family planning methods in Uganda. The project worked in 15 districts across Uganda and trained over 160,000 health workers. It strengthened health systems by scaling up access to long-acting reversible contraceptives, enhancing skills for in-service health providers, and introducing postpartum family planning. The project also increased functionality of health facilities by providing equipment and supplies for family planning services and strengthening district support supervision. It created awareness and demand through training community health workers. Initial data suggests the interventions improved access to long-acting methods. Lessons learned and next steps are discussed.

Climate Change and Agriculture into the 21st Century
Programs that help farmers manage risk are a major component of the Federal Government’s
support to rural America. Changes to this risk—and thus to the Government’s fiscal exposure—
are expected as weather averages and extremes change over the coming decades. This study
uses a combination of statistical and economic modeling techniques to explore the mechanisms
by which climate change could affect the cost of the Federal Crop Insurance Program (FCIP) to
the Federal Government, which accounts for approximately half of Government expenditures
on agricultural risk management. Our approach is to compare scenarios of the future that differ
only in terms of climate. Using weather scenarios for 2060-99 from general circulation models,
we project decreases in corn and soybean yields and mixed changes to winter wheat yields,
compared to a baseline scenario in which climate is identical to that of the past three decades.
We use an economic model of the U.S. agricultural sector to estimate how projected yield
changes may induce farmers to change what and where they plant, and the resulting impacts on
production and output prices. These ingredients allow us to explore drivers of change in the cost
of the FCIP’s Revenue Protection program, which is used as a heuristic for potential farm safety
net programs that could exist in the future. Differences between the scenarios are driven by
increasing prices for the three crops studied, caused by relatively lower production in the presence
of inelastic demand, as well as by changing volatility in both yields and prices.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

It strengthened health systems by scaling up access to long-acting reversible contraceptives, enhancing skills for in-service health providers, and introducing postpartum family planning. The project also increased functionality of health facilities by providing equipment and supplies for family planning services and strengthening district support supervision. It created awareness and demand through training community health workers. Initial data suggests the interventions improved access to long-acting methods. Lessons learned and next steps are discussed.

Climate Change and Agriculture into the 21st Century
Programs that help farmers manage risk are a major component of the Federal Government’s
support to rural America. Changes to this risk—and thus to the Government’s fiscal exposure—
are expected as weather averages and extremes change over the coming decades. This study
uses a combination of statistical and economic modeling techniques to explore the mechanisms
by which climate change could affect the cost of the Federal Crop Insurance Program (FCIP) to
the Federal Government, which accounts for approximately half of Government expenditures
on agricultural risk management. Our approach is to compare scenarios of the future that differ
only in terms of climate. Using weather scenarios for 2060-99 from general circulation models,
we project decreases in corn and soybean yields and mixed changes to winter wheat yields,
compared to a baseline scenario in which climate is identical to that of the past three decades.
We use an economic model of the U.S. agricultural sector to estimate how projected yield
changes may induce farmers to change what and where they plant, and the resulting impacts on
production and output prices. These ingredients allow us to explore drivers of change in the cost
of the FCIP’s Revenue Protection program, which is used as a heuristic for potential farm safety
net programs that could exist in the future. Differences between the scenarios are driven by
increasing prices for the three crops studied, caused by relatively lower production in the presence
of inelastic demand, as well as by changing volatility in both yields and prices.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

Curley, liaison to the county’s Department of Human Services. “Our families, our children and our com- munities are damaged, and many homes, businesses and lives have been devastated. The workshop will help residents deal with the emotional effects of the storm.” Presented by licensed and certified mental health practitioners, the workshop will cov- er available mental health resources; coping skills; and the emotional impact at three months, six months and nine months. “This hands-on workshop is for every- one—parents, families, educators and health care professionals,” Curley said. “This storm is impacting us in ways we could have only imagined. The work requires the closure of the bridge to vehicles and pedestrian traffic during the estimated three-week work period that is expected to conclude on February 18, weather permitting. To perform these upgrades, the county will close the bridge’s roadway so the contrac- tor, IEW Construction Group, can replace safety gates and perform other upgrades and maintenance work. “This work is required because the exist- ing equipment is outdated and replacement parts are becoming more difficult to find,” County Engineer Joseph M. Ettore, P.E. said. “Addressing these maintenance issues now will reduce the disruption of vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the summer months.” The Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge will be open to marine traffic during the upgrades. “This work was scheduled to begin this winter,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the county’s Department of Public Works and Engineer- ing. “This is the last of the four movable bridges to receive these needed upgrades.
