While certifications provide a valuable foundation for DevOps engineers, a more comprehensive skill set is needed to excel in this rapidly evolving field. Effective communication, problem-solving, coding, IaC, containerization, CI/CD, monitoring, security, Agile, and soft skills are all essential components of the DevOps engineer's toolkit. By continually expanding their skill set, DevOps engineers can adapt to new challenges and contribute to the success of their organizations in an increasingly competitive digital landscape. In the world of DevOps, the path to success goes beyond certification and is paved with a broad and dynamic skill set.

Experience
• Helped specify, architect and implement the IONU Security product across all popular OS
platforms.
• Using Embedded C, verified that chips developed by CPUTech (now part of Boeing) were
secure against hacker attacks. This proof was used during the sales process to aircraft
manufacturers.
• Developed a meta-language using C++ templates to composit independently developed
software libraries into the Xilinx design tool. This system had over 1.5 million lines of code.
This was credited with saving over 6 man years of development effort every calendar year.
• Managed the efforts of many disparate teams working on programming in several different
languages. Known for maintaining realistic schedules and producing high quality systems.
Known for digging in and helping out when needed.
• Developed the code for support of a variety of scripting languages and multi-threading. Lead
the teams doing this. This hid difficult and error-prone code from the vast majority of
programmers developing the system.
• Developed compilers for industry standard languages such as VHDL and Verilog. Lead the
teams responsible for customer design input.
• Developed a stock trading system based on neural-nets in the early 1990s.
