Meetings are important for collaboration but are often seen as mundane and unproductive. A survey found that employees spend significant time in meetings but find most uninspiring, would rather be elsewhere, and have trouble focusing. The top complaints about meetings are that they are too long, presenters are uninteresting, and content is uninspiring. For meetings to be more effective and engage participants, they must be better planned and led, with shorter duration and more dynamic presentations aided by new collaborative technologies.

Hear how Plante Moran has pivoted from a “year of understanding” to a “year of action”; why they’re questioning the wisdom of “cultural fit” and leaning, instead, toward “cultural contribution”; and how they’re slowly, but deliberately, moving toward their aspirational ideal—a firm that values the unique identities and experiences of its staff, where everyone has an equitable and fair opportunity to succeed, and where every staff member can proudly say, “I know I belong here.”

Navigating Environments of Complexity and Transformation: How Designers Can B...UXDXConf
Large enterprise companies are more than ever embarking on high-paced digital transformations and reinventions to stay relevant and competitive. In-house design teams have become a key part of those endeavors and as a result designers have tremendous opportunity to work on projects of exciting complexity, scope, and impact.
However, the reality of being an in-house designer supporting transformative change can often be a challenging experience. Managing complex stakeholders groups, educating and articulating the value of design, navigating intricate technical restraints; all while canvassing for the end-user. It's a lot to figure out!
In this 25-minute talk, Jeff shares what he's learned over the course of a decade navigating and working on complex projects for enterprise companies as both a designer and more recently as design director leading teams.
Are you a designer or design manager considering moving in-house, or are you currently working in environments of digital transformation and complex problem spaces? Then this talk will teach you how to take the tools, frameworks and concepts you use to design digital experiences in your day-to-day work and how to put those to work to help you navigate and persuade your way to becoming a more effective agent of change

How to make mundane meetings a thing of the past
By Jason Cort May 01, 2014 Management
Let's make meetings matter
Meetings are the lifeblood of every organisation. They are the
nexus point where participants can come together, each with their
own contribution to make, and deliver something special as a team.
Where individual contributions become greater than the sum of their
parts, and solo voices become a choir. If meetings really are the
lifeblood, why is that blood stream so clogged up?
Let's face it: everyone in every walk of life has at some point looked
at their calendars and shuddered at the prospect of a meeting that
has to be sat through.
Meetings should be engaging, involving, your chance to play your
part in furthering the success of your organisation but in reality,
people fear that meetings will be tedious. People are convinced that
they are going to take too long.
Participants in meetings feel that being there with their colleagues
is actually keeping them away from doing something more
productive and most of all, people really, really hope they're not
going to be asked to be present!
