To become a lawyer in India, one must first acquire a law degree through either a 5-year integrated LLB program or a 3-year LLB after graduating. The 5-year program is an undergraduate course available after class 12, with admission based on entrance exams like CLAT. CLAT assesses English, reasoning, legal aptitude, maths, and general awareness. One can also pursue a 3-year LLB after completing any bachelor's degree with 50% marks. After obtaining an LLB degree, one must enroll with a state bar council and pass the All India Bar Examination to become a practicing lawyer.
