Email security has improved in recent years but emails are still not fully private or secure. While email providers encrypt messages in transit and many now offer two-factor authentication, the contents of emails are not always encrypted on the server and are still vulnerable to hacking or government surveillance. Users can take additional steps like using a secure email service that encrypts messages end-to-end or enables self-destructing emails to further enhance their privacy, but there is no perfect solution.
