The document compares scenes from an animatic to a rough cut trailer for a movie. Several scenes were changed from the original plans - instead of walking alone, the main character is shown alone in various places to better show his isolation. The death scene remains similar but the killer's face is not shown. Hiding scenes were replaced with running scenes. Memory scenes were changed from a camping trip to a house party to seem less cliche. Font and text effects were improved to seem more fitting for the thriller genre.

1. How do things compare? A comparison between the Animatic and the current Rough Cut Trailer

2. The opening Scene This is the opening scene to my movie trailer. Nothing really has changed from when I first planned the shots in my animatic and producing the current rough cut. I liked the idea of the main character been introduced from leaving his house by himself. It shows a simple routine, he is normal and nothing exciting really goes on in his life.

3. Alone Scenes Instead of having him walking the streets to show how alone and sad he is I have decided to place him in various places on his own. I felt this would be more effective when proving how alone he is and also found it better when filming as it was hard to find an area where he could be on his own.

4. The ‘Death’ Scene As you can see I have kept the death scene pretty much the same. I although I have the killer facing away from the camera so the audience are not sure who it is. When you see the next shot in the trailer you will still be able to see that the killer is there but you will not be able to see his face because of the light and how he is placed.

5. Hiding/ Running Away Scenes Instead of having him hiding because of the death I have decided to show him running away. There was no real reason behind this I just though it might appeal to the audience more.

6. The ‘Memory’ Scenes These scenes were to show how much happier the main character was before the death/killing of his friend that he was blamed for. I have kept the memory scene’s in black and white although I decided to have the group of friends at a house party rather than at the camping trip. I found the original camping idea to be not so original after all with this genre of film and I wanted my trailer to be different than your usual thriller trailer. I used the idea of a house party instead and decided to film the scene’s with the camera of the tripod which gave I felt gave the audience more of a sense of how much better things were for the main character back then compared to how he feels now.

7. The 2nd Death Scene’s I liked the idea of showing the dead character alone to represent how his friends have left him ad now he really is alone. When watching the rough cut I felt this worked well rather than showing the friends around the body.

8. Cheesy Lines in the Trailer What some people would call… I have changed the lines because I thought that the original one’s again weren't so original in this genre of film and were rather predictable. I thought my second idea worked a lot better in the trailer and these leave the audience questioning them.

9. Font Changes Although I have used the new font in my animatic and in the rough cut the font on the left was my original. I hated it that much I decided to develop it pretty early on in the planning hence why I ended up using it in both the animatic and the rough cut. I have kept the same font “IMPACT” as I used in the original but I decided to develop the blood splatter and ended up using quite a believable effect on it. I also used a cracked effect in Photoshop on the font because I felt that the plain white was to boring for this genre of film.
