John Chaimanis, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Kendall Sustainable Infrastructure defines a framework for understanding investments in "Clean Tech" across asset classes in a fresh risk - return framework.
This is my lecture to Engineering Students at the University of Birmingham, for Engineers Without Borders UK. It talks about transport engineering in general terms and how engineers can use appropriate transport technologies to improve lives and their local environment.
I was invited to have a critical discussion on the ethics and political issues of the fashion industry and discuss the WEAR Sustain project aims and activities.
Designing flexible and adaptable estates for the digital revolutionAtkins
Atkins’ UK design director, Philip Watson, gave a presentation on the future for higher education in the digital age. He covered topics including the importance of meeting current challenges and looking beyond now to tomorrow, the likely differences in requirement needs, the challenges of meeting demand, future proofing teaching, learning and research spaces, optimising land and building asset use, and affordable, sustainable design best practice.
This presentation was first delivered in London in September 2014.

For The second time, the international Conference “Resilient and Responsible Architecture and Urbanism” Will take place this time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 15th to the 17th of July 2019.
Our attitudes, business models, products, services and actions related to the design, build, maintenance and transformation of our Built Environments have to change fundamentally. New build, renovation, and restoration projects increasingly focus on energy efficiency, renewable energy generation, sustainable building, water management and resource efficiency. This is not so strange when you consider the implications of a growing global population and rise in living standards. More and more resources will be necessary to meet global demand.

The Aga Khan Award for Architecture Technical Review and Jury Process: A Rece...Galala University
Dohaland Seminar - The Aga Khan Award for Architecture: Voices from Doha
This presentation focuses on the process of the AKAA technical review and jury process based on my recent experience as reviewer in the latest 33rd Cycle of the AKAA. It sheds light on nature of the review process starting with the project nomination, selection of reviewers, reviewers responsibilities, project study, visit, report writing, and presentation of project to the master jury committee. The Aga Khan Award’s process of projects technical review is one of the most rigorous and comprehensive review processes of architecture awards.
The Aga Khan Award for Architecture was established in 1977 by His Highness the Aga Khan. It recognizes examples of architectural excellence that encompass contemporary design, social housing, community improvement and development, restoration, re-use, and area conservation, as well as landscaping and environmental issues. Through its efforts, the Award seeks to identify and encourage building concepts that successfully address the needs and aspirations of societies in which Muslims have a significant presence.

Increasing STEM Mobility through Study Abroad in Europe: Engineering, Archite...CIEE
New questions have arisen in light of today’s demands for innovation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), increasingly global jobs markets, worldwide competition, and imbalanced opportunities for study abroad. One such question: Should the selection of study abroad location be tied to local resources and assets? Using two STEM-focused study abroad programs in Europe as examples, we’ll discuss this question, and bring together innovators in STEM education to identify major challenges and best practices, and develop new roadmaps for creating successful STEM programs.
