Tahrer Zaky is a civil engineer with over 10 years of experience in infrastructure projects in Palestine and the UAE. This document summarizes a study that characterized the spatial and temporal patterns of intermittent rivers globally. The study analyzed daily discharge data from over 1700 gauging stations in France, Spain, Australia, and the United States to classify rivers as perennial or intermittent. Of the 1684 stations considered, 455 were classified as intermittent, having on average at least 5 zero-flow days per year. The analysis found that over 50% of intermittent rivers in the database were located in Australia, while proportions in Spain and France were 25% and 7%, respectively.
