4. ACTG 5345
This study aims to find tests that will predict when HIV will be
“seen” in blood after temporarily stopping anti-HIV medications
with frequent monitoring.
Eligibility:
– HIV+ men and women, age 18-70
– Started ART during acute HIV infection and been on ART for at
least two years with undetectable viral load
– CD4 count > 500 and never below 200
– Must be willing to re-start HIV meds when instructed or sooner if
you prefer
5. HIV Reservoir
& HRT
This study is investigating how female sex hormones in transgender
females can affect the immune system and thus affect HIV disease
progression and treatment effectiveness.
Eligibility:
– HIV+ and 18 years or older
– Identify as a transgender female or gender non-binary and looking
to start feminizing HRT
– On ARTs and undetectable
6. LastGift
This study aims to understand the behavior of HIV and identify
where it hides in the body. Consent for autopsy at the time of death
is a part of the study.
Eligibility:
– HIV+ men and women and 18 years or older
– On suppressive ART at the time of enrollment
– Terminally-ill with less than 6 months to live
7. Perturb
This study will investigate how routine vaccinations affect the HIV
reservoir and what these changes might mean for future cure
treatment studies.
Eligibility:
– HIV+ men and women, age 18-65
– On HIV meds for at least one year
– No previous AIDS diagnosis or allergies to the flu or pneumonia
vaccines
8. Reprieve
This main purpose of this study is to see if pitavastatin, a
cholesterol-lowering drug, can prevent heart disease and heart
disease-related deaths in people with HIV who are taking meds.
Eligibility:
– HIV+ men and women, age 40-75
– On HIV meds for at least 6 months
– CD4 count > 100
– No history of cardiovascular disease (heart attack, stroke, etc.)
– Not currently taking a statin
9. Transgender
PrEP
This study is investigating linkage to services and PrEP adherence
via text messages in transgender and gender non-conforming
individuals.
Eligibility:
– Age 18 or older
– Identify as transgender or gender non-conforming
– Sexually active and HIV-negative
– Have a cell phone that can receive/send text messages
10. AVRCUP &
“GoodToGo”
Formerly known as Lead theWay, the
newly-remodeled AVRC UP is offering the
TotalTest for MSM and transgender
individuals who don’t know their HIV
status.
TheTotalTest includes testing for HIV, syphilis,
gonorrhea, chlamydia, Hep B and Hep C.
From our standpoint, you are “GoodTo
Go” when you KNOW your status, and
can make sensible choices about
prevention and treatment options so you
can continue to enjoy your sex life.
