The administration of the Delhi Sultanate had a central administration based in Delhi and provincial administrations. The central administration was headed by the Sultan, who had ultimate authority. There were four main officials - the Wazir (Prime Minister) who oversaw finance and general administration, the Diwan-i-Ariz who managed the military, the Diwan-i-Insha who issued decrees, and the Diwan-i-Rasalt who handled foreign relations. The provinces were governed by governors, who had significant autonomy but were expected to maintain law and order, collect taxes, and address people's welfare and judicial matters. The administration combined Indian and foreign elements, with Arabic and Persian influences on the systems.
