2. NO LONGER TRUE!
• Women have always been treated second best by biased men.
Women have always been treated like they are never good
enough for careers outside of the home. In the mid 1800’s,
women didn’t have any rights until the early 1900’s.
• Throughout history, many Americans have fought for their
freedom in the country such as women, they struggled to be
treated and looked upon by the government as equals.
• Society has stereo-typed women, making it almost impossible
for women to achieve her goals and desires in life.

3. WHY THEY BELIEVED IT
• Women did not fight in war because many people believed they
weren’t strong and noble.
• Their house was their life, only men worked out of home because they
were seen as smart, strong, courageous and less ignorant than
women.
• Only men agreed that women shouldn’t be allowed to have rights.
Women fought for their freedom to be equal to men.

4. HOW WAS THIS TRUTH DISPROVED
• Emmeline Pankhurst strongly disagreed with men’s opinions.
She was one of the only brave women that spoke out to
democrats to change the opinion on gender.
• Men discovered in the end that women were stronger and
smarter than they had expected.
• Women made sacrifices to make men and some women change
how they thought of women.
• Emmeline overturned them by committing suicide. She threw
herself on to the ground and let a horse run over her.

5. WHAT DO WE BELIEVE ABOUT THIS ‘TRUTH’ NOW?
• Rules changed and Emmiline got what she wanted after she died. Since
the end of the 1900’s to now, women are able to vote.
• We know this because we have seen women voting and women have
jobs nowadays such as teachers, lawyers, politicians. Even Margaret
Thatcher became Prime Minister. If rules had never changed, she would
of never made it that far.
