Professionally managed by GK Management Company, Stephan Arms Apartments is located less than two blocks from Omaha’s historical Dundee Memorial Park. The Dundee Memorial Park Association helps maintain the area’s historical features. Its most recent project involves the renovation of the Dodge Street subway system, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. Omaha’s last remaining pedestrian tunnel, the subway system was created in 1934 to provide schoolchildren with safe passage across Dodge Street.

Renovations to the 80-year-old subway will include minor concrete and masonry repairs and the installation of new features that include historic signage, skid-resistant ramp coatings, and brighter and more energy-efficient LED lighting. In addition, the association plans to place a mural designed by Dundee students on the tunnel’s inner walls. It is estimates the project will cost approximately $30,000. While the City of Omaha and the Leo A. Daly Company have together pledged $3,500, the association seeks the aid of foundation grants and community donations to provide the remaining funds. It hopes to complete renovations in September 2015.
