Henry Matisse was a French artist born in 1869 who died in 1954, known as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century as a painter, sculptor and engraver. He is known for using warm and cold colors together in exaltations of color called Fauvism, as seen in works like The Green Line from 1905, Woman with hat from 1905, and Secretary from 1947.
