The document proposes building a global volunteer matching website that would allow individuals and organizations to post volunteer opportunities and needs. Users could search for opportunities by zip code and interests. The site would match volunteers with opportunities and track volunteers' hours to earn rewards like discounts and prizes from advertisers. The target market would be social media users who could help grow the volunteer database through sharing on platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Contests and challenges would also encourage more volunteer participation.
This document proposes a platform to facilitate interactions between non-governmental organizations (NGOs), users, and sponsors. It notes that while there are over 1.5 million NGOs in the US, there is no single platform allowing mass interactions. The proposed platform would allow NGOs to share updates, events, and reports, and users to follow, contribute to, and collaborate with multiple NGOs. Sponsors could advertise, with revenue shared to support NGOs. Experts would publish articles to raise awareness. The platform aims to increase donations, volunteering, and social impact through connecting these groups in one place.
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have existed since 1838 and there are estimated to be over 40,000 international NGOs today. NGOs are independent organizations created by individuals or groups that operate independently of any government. They engage in a variety of activities like providing humanitarian aid, advocating for policy changes, and raising awareness of social or environmental issues. NGOs rely on fundraising events, government/organization grants, and private donations to fund their budgets, which can reach into the hundreds of millions of dollars for large international NGOs.

Examples demonstrate how local organizers could get feedback on ideas, volunteers could find opportunities, and outreach could be personalized for different communities and individuals.
The document introduces "The Great Community", a web portal that aims to connect NGOs, donors, beneficiaries, and the public. It serves as a one-stop search portal for NGOs to showcase their work, share experiences, and connect with potential donors. It is intended to help NGOs increase their visibility, funding, and partnerships by providing an easy-to-use platform for connection and information sharing.

Charity is commonly defined as the provision of help or relief to the poor through almsgiving or establishing organizations to help those in need. To set up a charity, one must clarify the cause, network with groups, and register the organization with the appropriate state agency. The key steps to creating a charity include developing a vision and mission statement, incorporating the organization, establishing a board of directors, and registering as a tax-exempt nonprofit entity. Fundraising is also important for charities and can be done through social media and maintaining an online presence.
The document discusses two main problems faced by NGOs: 1) lack and misuse of funds, and 2) lack of volunteerism among youth. For the first problem, it notes that NGOs rely on donations but funds are often misused, and some NGOs are used for money laundering. It suggests fundraising events and simple product sales to generate revenue. For the second problem, it states that youth prefer high-paying jobs and it is difficult for NGOs to attract and pay skilled volunteers. It recommends using websites to connect NGOs with volunteers and promoting social work through advertisements and corporate social responsibility programs.

A non-profit organization is defined as an organization that does not earn profits for its owners and uses all money earned or donated to pursue its objectives, such as charities or public service organizations. Non-profits can apply for tax-exempt status so donations are tax-deductible for donors and the organization is not taxed. An effective non-profit website clearly conveys the organization's mission on its homepage, provides background details on an About page, and meets the needs of various audiences including members, people served, donors, and volunteers. It should include photos of those impacted, contact info, and opportunities to donate, volunteer, or sign up for email updates.

Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)Julian Hyde
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.

Hand Rolled Applicative User ValidationCode KataPhilip Schwarz
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.

transparent by making their financials available for review
