Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae have expanded their Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) to allow more homeowners to refinance their mortgages. Under the new HARP guidelines, homeowners can refinance regardless of their credit score, may have had prior late payments or bankruptcies, and can refinance mortgages on primary residences, second homes, or investment properties. 1. • Mortgage loan must have closed prior to June 1st, 2009
• Loan must be currently owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac
• No minimum credit score
• No mortgage lates in last 6 months (max of one 30-day late in the last 7 - 12 months)
• Bankruptcy / Foreclosure does not necessarily disqualify you
• Primary residence, second homes & investment properties all eligible
• Home can be currently listed for sale
• Having a second mortgage does not disqualify you (must resubordinate to new loan)
• Closing cost can be financed in new loan
Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae have adopted changes to the Home Affordable Refinance Program
