This document provides information about volunteer opportunities for pre-med, nursing, or allied health students with the Hospital Elder Life Program (H.E.L.P.) at Methodist Hospital. Volunteers would visit with patients and help prevent delirium in older adults by engaging in activities like playing games, walking, reading, and hand massages. Volunteers are required to commit to one 2-3 hour shift per week and complete training on general H.E.L.P. procedures and walking safety. Interested individuals should contact the volunteer coordinator at Methodist Hospital for more details on requirements and upcoming training sessions.

Be part of a new comprehensive volunteer program
to help prevent delirium in older hospitalized adults
by visiting with patients and helping them with activities such as:
♦ Playing cards/games
♦ Walking
♦ Reading magazines/books
♦ Doing crafts
♦ Giving simple hand massages
H.E.L.P. Volunteers must commit to one shift (2-3 hours) per week
on-site at Methodist Hospital and must be high school graduates.
Prior to Starting:
H.E.L.P. volunteers must attend a general training session (4 hours)
and a walking safety training session (2 hours, date TBA).

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
All Methodist volunteers must:
♦ complete a health screen
(including TB test/drug screen)
♦ agree to a background check
♦ review organization standards
