Eph. 2:1-3
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
in which you used to live when you followed the ways of
this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the
spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All
of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the
cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts.
Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in
mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead
in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
God’s love and mercy
healed them.
Only the scars remain.

They are in our hearts.
They are healed wounds from our
pasts.
They can keep us from moving
forward.

To produce guilt in our lives.
To keep us down.
To prevent us from enjoying God’s
grace.

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I
was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to
torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it
away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient
for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my
weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
