From the
E DITOR
A
s we step into February,
our focus, no matter how
caught up, naturally shifts
from the relentless pursuit
of money and career to the realities
of love and relationships. Singles
seek companionship, couples fight
bitter divorce battles, and the divorced
choose to pick new beginnings through
remarriage while the rest are happy to
remain happy and single. The question
that echoes is profound – what does
a relationship mean in this day and
age? Does a relationship mean being
married? Does it mean sex? Are people
in open marriages happy? The very
essence of a relationship is undergoing
a transformative shift and is constantly
evolving.
Honestly, there is no more wrong
and right in relationships anymore.
Anything that makes you happy is
right…. The lines between right and
wrong are blurred, and happiness
takes on different forms for different
individuals. Who are we to judge? While
the older generation still believes that
getting their kids married young at 21,
is the solution to all the problems, on
the other spectrum, we have people
choosing live-ins over marriages and
pets instead of kids. It’s time to realise
that there is no formula, standard, or
rule book for matters of the heart. In a
world with a 7 billion population, who
are we to judge the highs and lows, the
unconventional choices, and the diverse
paths.
It becomes apparent that there is
no one-size-fits-all definition for a
relationship. We have reached a time
when connections can be made with
a click, and what’s worse is that as
fascinating as it may seem, we also
have apps like Gleeden that cater to
those who are seeking extramarital
affairs. Yes, it's true! This Valentine’s
Day, let’s pledge to celebrate everything
that makes us happy; it could be a
friend who comforts us, a neighbour
who gives us the hots, or even someone
we have found on an extramarital app!
Gay, straight, or queer, this V-day, let’s
celebrate the differences because it’s
the differences that make us beautiful...
Moving on to our issue, our cover
story features someone who has
taken a unique path with his movie
choices. Teja Sajja, renowned for films
like ‘Zombie Reddy,’ has achieved
remarkable success with his latest
movie, ‘Hanuman,’ becoming the
year's biggest hit. We engage in a
conversation with this rising star.
Staying true to the February theme, our
stories explore relationships and dating
apps, romantic getaways, and much
more. As the world progresses, I hope
we can keep up with everything that's
trending.
Enjoy reading our issue, and don’t
forget to celebrate the differences!

Teja Sajja
MAN OF THE
MOMENT
Pragmatic, grounded, and realistic. These few words would
be apt to describe Teja Sajja, the young star who emerged
as a dark horse in the first wave of releases in 2024 with his
breakthrough hit, Hanuman. Teja Sajja, the star of the year's
first blockbuster, speaks exclusively to Hashtag magazine about
his movie, his stint as a child actor, and why he feels he is in for a
long innings with Mallik Thatipalli.
9. I N D I A

T
he 29-year-old star of
the super-successful
movie is basking in
the glow of his film,
breaking records across India and
proving that content is the only
king when it comes to winning the
audience's heart. For its young lead,
though, this was an affirmation
of his struggle over the past eight
years when he returned to the arc
lights to make his mark as a lead
star after a stellar career as a child
artist.
Reacting to the success of
Hanuman, he says, “I am extremely
relieved, as I have lived with the
movie and the associated pressure
for almost two years. The success
still has to soak in, and I sometimes
feel blank when I look at the reviews
or hear the numbers. Also, while I
was confident that a superhero with
Indian roots would be well-received,
the extent of its success has taken
us by surprise.”
The toast of the country, the movie
was spawned off a single premise
the actor had—why couldn’t a
superhero wear a Kurta pajama
instead of spandex? —and the result
was this movie, which combined
action, mythology, and storytelling in
one template.
"We had limited resources when we
started the movie. When Prashanth
narrated the script, which combined
stories from Indian mythology via
a superhero, I was hooked on it,” he
recalls and adds, “The initial reports
were positive. We sold the movie to
different territories, from Burma to
Berlin and Nepal. We invested the
money into the movie, as we had full
faith in the story.”
Regarding the success of the movie
in the Hindi belt, the actor says
he wasn’t surprised. “Some early
Hindi exhibitors loved the movie,
so we were confident that the
movie would hit a chord with North
Indian audiences. I think Telugu
Industries shares stories of human
relationships very well, so when
we combined that with a universal
theme, we knew we had a winner on
our hands,” he shares.
The youngster is clear about the
sky-high expectations that will
arise from his next movie after the
success of Hanuman. He states, “We
never expected this movie to do so
well, so I believe there was a divine
play here. If something does very
well in the future, I will be thrilled,
but irrespective of the success, if I
bring something to the silver screen
each time I come out with a movie, I
will consider it a success.”
Everything about the movie was
done diligently and differently, from
the posters to the teaser, the first
glimpse, and the trailer. While the
success of the movie excites the
actor, he is hopeful that this will be
a turning point in his career (much
like Khaidi was to his favourite actor
Chiranjeevi and Simhadri was to Jr.
NTR), giving him a long and exciting
career.
A SUCCESS STORY
''

with the movie and the associated
pressure for almost two years.

When people
say this movie
breached the
100-crore mark
or the 200-crore
mark, it doesn’t
excite me. What
moved me was the
reaction from the
first show when
the crowd loved
the movie. The
math is secondary
as far as I’m

''
''
For him, the biggest takeaway from
the movie was clear: the audience’s
reception, and he credits only his
director for that. “When people say
this movie breached the 100-crore
mark or the 200-crore mark, it
doesn’t excite me. What moved me
was the reaction from the first show
when the crowd loved the movie.
The math is secondary as far as I’m
concerned.”
Also telling about the movie’s
success is how rooted it was in
its making; it was shot in a village
(Vattinagulapalle) just on the
fringe of Hyderabad, and its VFX
was made by a city firm, proving
that all you need for success is
determination and passion.
The Telugu industry is full of star
kids and is notorious for making it
difficult for outsiders to make their
mark. The young star is measured
when he thinks of his reply and
says, “Yes, for them (star kids), the
entry is easy, but their pressure and
expectations are huge. The entry
is difficult for us, but until we prove
ourselves, the expectations are
lower. The only difference is that
newcomers find it more difficult to
get new directors, but then everyone
faces challenges. No journey is
easy.”
When asked if the film’s success
puts all his struggles over the past
decade into perspective, he smiles
and says, “I’m thrilled about the
accomplishment, as it has given
me the foundation to build a career,
but success in the film is a curious
mix of hard work, talent, and a bit of
luck. I’ve had my share of struggle,
failure, and disappointment, and I
hope fate is kind to me.”
Currently, the actor is keen on
returning to the big screen soon,
whether it is a sequel to Hanuman or
his next movie, an action-adventure
that will go on floors soon.
Given his practical outlook, sensible
thinking, and enthusiasm to share
new stories, one only expects great
things from one of India’s first
legitimate onscreen superheroes.
For Teja, the movie's success is a
shot in the arm. A very successful
child artist in the 90s who acted
in over 50 films, he completed his
Masters and came back to make it
as a hero in 2013.
While movies like Zombie Reddy and
Adbhutam and a supporting role
in Oh Baby got him success, this
marks his significant return to the
silver screen. He treasures the fact
that Samantha (his Oh Baby co-star)
called and raved about the movie, as
did Telugu superstar Ram Charan.

DRIVING CHANGE:
THE IMPACTFUL TALE OF LOOCAFE IN INDIA
In the heart of India, LooCafe stands as a symbol of transformative innovation, rewriting the narrative of
public hygiene. Founded by visionary Abhishek Nath in 2019, LooCafe is a testament to the power of a
simple idea to revolutionize an entire industry. In a recent interview, Vedant Nath, leading Innovation,
Technology, and Marketing at LooCafe, and Shambavi Mishra discussed the initiative's evolution and its
significant impact on changing the landscape of public toilets in India.
Abhishek Nath
D
riven by Abhishek's expertise in facility
management, LooCafe was born out of the
critical gap in public sanitation despite the
Swachh Bharat Mission's push for cleanliness.
The first LooCafe in Telangana, Hyderabad, began a
journey toward improved sanitation and hygiene in
public spaces.
LooCafe operates on a unique public-private
partnership model, collaborating with the government
to provide clean and well-maintained facilities. This
patented and trademarked product of Ixora Group, a
pioneer in healthcare and waste management, has
been well-received, transforming the public restroom
experience and contributing to a cleaner, more hygienic
India.
Can you shed some light on how LooCafe came into
existence?
LooCafe, conceptualized in 2018 by our founder
Abhishek Ravinder Nath, emerged as a response to the
critical issue of open defecation and public urination in
India. The Swachh Bharat Mission highlighted the urgent
need for accessible public toilets in a country with a
population of 1.4 billion.
What sets LooCafe apart from traditional public toilets?
LooCafe is not just about toilets; it's a luxury public
washroom concept designed to transform public
sanitation. It operates on a patented innovation by Ixora
Group, introducing free-to-use ‘IoT ’-based luxury smart
washrooms with a café. This unique approach helps
combat open defecation while providing additional
facilities and a sustainable model.
Can you elaborate on LooCafe's patented innovations
and innovative features?
LooCafe's patented innovation includes the introduction
of smart washrooms built from shipping containers.
These smart facilities have a point of sale attached and
incorporate RFID janitor attendance, footfall sensors,
feedback support, water level sensors, and even a stink
sensor. This technology-driven approach ensures a
seamless and hygienic user experience.
"Our business model focuses on
sustainability, with a coin of sale
attached to three public toilets, ensuring
a continuous revenue stream."

Vedant Nath
Speaking of sustainability, how does LooCafe ensure its
business model remains sustainable?
LooCafe's sustainability lies in its business model.
Revenue generated from the attached café or point of
sale supports the maintenance and sustainability of
the public toilets. This unique approach addresses the
need for public restrooms and ensures a self-sustaining
system.
What were LooCafe's responses to the challenges posed
by the COVID-19 pandemic? What innovations were
introduced with LooCafe 2.0?
In response to the pandemic, we launched LooCafe
2.0, incorporating innovative sanitizing features. This
included UV copper-coated flooring, an IoT-based misting
exhaust system, and a shoe disinfection mechanism.
These measures aimed to enhance user safety and
hygiene during these challenging times.
How does LooCafe keep public toilets going with its café
model?
LooCafe runs on an innovative and sustainable model.
The money from the café or sales keeps the public toilets
up and running – a win-win for everyone.
Collaboration seems to be critical to LooCafe's success.
Can you share insights into your partnerships with
institutions and government bodies?
We've worked with institutions like the British Council,
participated in events like Hyderabad Design Week,
and collaborated with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal
Corporation (GHMC). These partnerships broaden our
reach and enhance our impact on public sanitation.
What else has LooCafé brought to the table, making India
cleaner and more hygienic?
LooCafé shook things up with smart washrooms and
even added a café! It's not just a bathroom; it's a whole
experience making India a cleaner and more hygienic
place.
"Facing setbacks during the pandemic,
we supported our network of small
businesses, demonstrating resilience
and commitment to our mission."

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO CANINE HAVEN
Mrs. Malabica Chakraborty's Wagging Tales Foundation Inspires Hope and Compassion. Chakraborty's journey
began with a simple act of compassion, from humble beginnings of feeding three colony dogs to 30 in just
three weeks. Her humble initiative has since grown into a beacon of hope, a sanctuary where love knows no
bounds, and every wagging tail whispers a tale of resilience and the indomitable spirit of a woman who dared to
make a difference. It is now a haven for the many stray and abandoned dogs that roam the city. Mrs. Malabica
Chakraborty, founder of Wagging Tales Foundation, in conversation with Vittal Narayana Polepeddi.
When did you start this initiative?
We started the Wagging Tales
Foundation in Oct 2020. Our rescue
center came into being in Oct 2021.
How has your journey been?
It has been challenging as well
as rewarding at the same time.
Government support and funds are
significant issues, but we try to brave
through with our limited resources.
We have vaccinated more than two
thousand dogs.
As normal residents, how can
we help the stray and keep the
vicinity safe from attacks?
Sterilization is the primary step in
ensuring the stray population in every
locality is controlled. You should
also educate people and reduce their
hostility towards stray dogs, urge
feeders to feed at designated feeding
spots, promote and support yearly
vaccination drives for colony dogs
and cats to prevent the incidence
of rabies, etc. Statistics show that
stray-friendly residential areas have
minimal to no reporter bite incidents.

AS PER ABC (ANIMAL BIRTH CONTROL)
GUIDELINES, ALL DOGS ARE GIVEN ANTI-RABIES
VACCINATION AT SURGERY BUT NEED YEARLY

"
Is there any way to identify the
difference between a vaccinated
and a non-vaccinated stray?
Ear notching is normally done to
distinguish a sterilized dog from an
unsterilized one. As per ABC (animal
birth control) guidelines, all dogs
are given anti-rabies vaccination at
surgery but need yearly boosters.
Unfortunately, you cannot make the
difference for vaccinations; private
feeders or caretakers maintain
personal records of vaccinations of
dogs under their care when they get
them vaccinated through private vets
or clinics.
Mrs. Chakraborty's Wagging Tales
Foundation is genuinely remarkable.
It is a source of inspiration, radiating
hope and love without limits. Every
wagging tail within its walls tells
a story of resilience, echoing the
indomitable spirit of a woman who
fearlessly embarked on a mission
to make a real difference. Her
journey proves that a single person
can indeed transform the world. I
strongly urge everyone to delve into
her organization's story and lend their
support in whatever way possible.
It's a testament to the power of
compassion and action!

If you are looking for a place where food matches the interiors, the Gawky
Goose Kitchen & Bar in Bengaluru’s iconic wind tunnel road is the place to
head to. Known as the ‘Pub City’, Bengaluru’s Wind Tunnel Road, always has
some of the most happening resto bars in the city. Naturally, brothers Kiran
and Gautam Kumar were clear that this was where they wanted their space
to be located. Bindu Gopal Rao explores the latest sensation in the city.
Design Story
Spread over a whopping 14,000
square feet, the 390-cover space
is designed to be inspired by Irish
pub culture with undertones of local
tropical greens. The alfresco seating
area that you first see is peppered
with aromatic ferns and pines. The
exposed brickwork with a transparent
glazed ceiling, waterfall fountain and
dense foliage ensure this is also right
for your four-legged friends (yes, this
space is also pet-friendly). The bar
is the scene stealer with emerald
green and brass embellished bar hues
supported by similar shaded columns
on either side. The seating is plush
with comfortable chairs and natural
wooden tables. Do not miss the pop
of yellow in the Chesterfields and wing
backs accentuated by the cement tile
flooring. The indoor seating space is
separated from the outdoor seating
with a channel of glazed partitions
that ensures the connection between
the spaces is never lost. The outdoor
deck framed with planters adds to the
connection to nature here.

Start Right
The menu is an eclectic mix of world cuisine
with regional twists, all made using modern
techniques. Start with the Salad Caprese, a
delicious mix of Buffalo Mozzarella, fresh
tomatoes, pesto, wild arugula, and balsamic
pearls that give the right crunch. The
Avocado Salad made with Hass avocado,
green mango, wild arugula, and crispy
coconut flakes has a sweet chilli dressing
that leaves a nice aftertaste in your mouth.
There is a selection of ‘Bar Bites’ that has
winners like the Tequila Congress, made
with mouth-numbing, sweet, salty, spicy,
and crunchy Sichuan fried peanuts tossed
with onions, tomatoes, pineapple, lime,
chillies topped flambéed with Tequila and
the Fox Trot-Peri Peri/Cajun which has fox
nuts toasted and tossed in clarified butter
and peri-peri/cajun seasoning. Apart from
a selection of soups, the Small Plates, has
the Mangalorean Chicken Sukka, a local
speciality made with boneless chicken
cooked with byadgi chilli, coconut, and south
spices and the Ghee Roast Stuffed Paddu

Food Meets Drinks
The resto-bar has an eclectic collection of
drinks and has several classic cocktails
that have been specifically brought
back with regional twists and modern
techniques. They also have molecular
cocktails and some signature cocktails
like the Gazpacho Bloody Mary (Absolut
Vodka, gazpacho cold soup, red chilli
powder, topped with cucumber and chilli
foam) and Balan - The Crazy Tiger (Rum
fat washed in coconut water, smoked
pineapple juice, in house jaggery syrup)
which are popular. The extensive main
course has Euro Asian Vegetable Curry
made with Singapore curry powder,
coconut milk gravy, vegetables and
jasmine rice. It also has a nice fulfilling
bite, and the Grilled Chicken Breast with
char-grilled chicken breast, pan-tossed
vegetables, roasted baby potato and red

extensive set of mains. If you are a biryani
fan, try the Gawky Chicken Biryani or the

main course. And for desserts, (yes make
sure to keep some place for them), try
the Tender Coconut Douhua a melange of

Being Single
on Valentine’s Day:
Why Does It Hurt So Much?
As Valentine’s Day approaches, media, advertisements, and
even conversations become saturated with images of blissful
couples exchanging tokens of affection. This constant barrage
can inadvertently amplify feelings of isolation for those
without a romantic partner. These days, even being single
has an emotionally and psychologically damaging reputation
attached to it. Mehak Walia in a conversation with Akansha
Khanna, a counseling psychologist, NLP Practitioner, and life
coach who focuses on bettering lives, one day at a time.
Akansha Khanna
W
hile discussing the same, Akansha
Khanna, a counseling psychologist,
NLP Practitioner, life coach, and
the founder of Thrive Limitless,
who is currently working with the Hans Foundation
for their school project called the Hans Wellness
Clinic, said, “The perceived emotional and
psychological challenges of being single mostly
come from societal norms that prioritize romantic
relationships. Cultural narratives and media mostly
emphasize that fulfillment primarily comes from
romantic partnerships, contributing to the notion
that being single is less desirable, making life dull
or just not as happening as it is for people in a
relationship.”
She explained, “This can create pressure and
impact people’s self-esteem and emotional
well-being. So basically, society’s emphasis
on romantic relationships as a measure of
happiness leads to the stigmatization of being
single. This societal narrative
may foster feelings of
inadequacy, loneliness, or
fear of judgment for those
not in romantic relationships.
Personal expectations and
comparisons to others' lives
may also contribute to the
perceived negative reputation
of being single. This is why we
need to foster a more inclusive
perspective on diverse
life paths, which can help
navigate the emotional and
psychological impact of being
single.”
This feeling of hopelessness
only gets worse during
Valentine's week. While
discussing this phenomenon,
Akansha explained, “Valentine’s
week can intensify the
emotional and psychological
impact of being single due to
societal focus on romantic
love & its celebration; it
makes single people realize
how lonely they are in the
absence of a partner & how
celebration means nothing.
During this time, people may
experience heightened feelings
of FOMO, emotional distress, or
loneliness.”
33. I N D I A
INDIA’S FIRST INTERACTIVE MAGAZINE
33 February 2024
She added, “We see so much
Commercialisation of the holiday,
restaurants and hotels often magnifying
the perceived importance of being
in a romantic relationship, sharing
experiences that exacerbate feelings
of inadequacy or isolation for those
who are single. And we must consider
the increased number of social media
posts highlighting romantic gestures,
which can amplify these emotions for
individuals without a romantic partner.
Through this, social comparisons
happen; seeing others engaged in
romantic activities or receiving gifts
during this time may trigger social
comparison, leading to feelings of not
measuring up or being left out.”
The societal pressure and emotional
impact associated with being single,
particularly during times like Valentine's
week, can have adverse psychological
effects. These effects can be short-term,
but they can also lead to awful long-term
problems.
These awful and possibly crushing
psychological effects include:
How can we possibly work on
this?
You see, to navigate the emotional
challenges associated with
societal pressure on relationship
status, especially during times
like Valentine's week, individuals
can take proactive steps towards
personal growth. Recognizing that
being single on Valentine’s Day
doesn’t diminish one’s worth or
happiness is crucial.
While discussing these steps,
Akansha said, “First, it's essential
to challenge and redefine one's
value independent of relationship
status, acknowledging that
fulfillment can come from various
aspects of life. Cultivating self-love
and practicing self-compassion
can significantly bolster self-
esteem. Engaging in activities that
bring joy, pursuing personal goals,
and fostering a strong support
network of friends and family
contribute to a sense of fulfillment.
Additionally, challenging societal
norms by promoting inclusivity
and celebrating diverse life paths
can help reshape perspectives
on being single. Embracing
individuality, focusing on personal
development, and seeking
professional support is integral to
working towards growth in the face
of societal expectations.”
While societal pressures may
intensify the sense of solitude,
reframing perspectives and
focusing on personal well-being
can transform Valentine’s Day
into a celebration of individual
strength and resilience. Embracing
the beauty of one’s journey and
recognizing the multifaceted
nature of love can be empowering,
even amidst a sea of romantic
enthusiasm. So, let’s celebrate the
warmth and love this Valentine’s
week by embracing the power of
self-love. Happy Valentine’s week!
• Lowered Self-Esteem:
Constant exposure to societal
norms prioritizing romantic
relationships can lead to a
diminished sense of self-worth
for single individuals. This
may manifest as feelings of
inadequacy or a belief that one's
value is tied to relationship
status.
• Increased Stress and Anxiety:
The pressure to conform to
societal expectations regarding
relationships may contribute to
heightened stress and anxiety,
particularly during periods like
Valentine's week.
• Feelings of Isolation and
Loneliness: Experiencing FOMO
or a sense of exclusion during
romantic celebrations can lead
to increased loneliness. This can
contribute to a sense of isolation
and negatively impact mental
well-being.
• Impact on Mental Health:
For some individuals, the
societal emphasis on being in
a relationship may contribute
to symptoms of depression
or exacerbate existing mental
health challenges. This is
especially true when societal
norms clash with an individual's
values or circumstances.

2024 is just around the
corner, and with it comes
a new wave of health
trends that shape the
future of wellness. From
Personalized medicine to
virtual reality, from plant-
based diets to biohacking,
Dhanush Kumar lists some
emerging trends that will
redefine how we care for
ourselves and our health.
Health Trends 2024:
What to Expect in the Future of Wellness
Personalized Medicine
One of the most exciting health trends
in 2024 is personalized medicine, which
uses genetic, environmental, and lifestyle
data to tailor treatments and prevention
strategies for each individual.
Personalized medicine aims to improve
health care's effectiveness, safety, and
affordability by delivering the proper
intervention to the right person at the
right time. Personalized medicine also
helps prevent diseases by detecting
risk factors and providing personalized
recommendations for lifestyle changes
such as diet, exercise, and supplements.
Virtual reality
Another health trend that is gaining momentum
in 2024 is virtual reality. It has a wide range
of uses, including the treatment of numerous
medical and mental illnesses such as chronic
pain, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The
simulation of medical procedures, anatomy,
diseases, and scenarios can be utilised to
instruct and train both patients and healthcare
personnel.
Virtual reality can be used to enhance physical
activity and fitness by providing gamified and
interactive workouts, virtual coaches, and social
features. Virtual reality can also be used to
motivate and reward users, such as tracking their
progress, goals, and achievements.

Bio Hacking
Biohacking uses science, technology, and self-
experimentation to optimize health, performance,
and well-being. Biohacking can use various
methods, such as wearable devices worn on the
body, such as fitness trackers, smartwatches,
and biosensors, to measure and monitor multiple
aspects of one’s health.
Biohacking can also be used in Nootropics.
They are substances that can enhance one’s
cognitive abilities, such as memory, focus,
creativity, and mood. It can include natural or
synthetic compounds like caffeine, modafinil,
and piracetam. They can also include dietary
supplements such as Omega-3 fatty acids,
Vitamin B12, and magnesium.
Biohacking can also be used in Genetics. It is
the study of one’s genes, the units of hereditary
information that determine one’s traits and
characteristics. They can be used to understand
health risks and potentials by analyzing one’s DNA
and microbiome.

The Arunachalam temple stands at the foot of the majestic Arunachala hill in the heart of Tamil Nadu. This magnificent place, is
dedicated to Lord Shiva. Dhanush Kumar delves into the history and the story behind the Arunchalam temple that transcends the
boundaries of mere architecture, becoming a tapestry woven with history, divinity, and captivating mystery.
The Arunchalam Temple boasts a rich lineage, its origins veiled in the mists of time. Legends trace its creation back to the Puranic era,
while inscriptions reveal its evolution throughout the Chola, Pallava, and Vijayanagara dynasties. Through the ages, it has observed
empires' ascent and decline alongside the steadfast devotion of numerous pilgrims.
Story of the Arunchalam Temple
The story begins with a dispute between the two
powerful deities. Brahma and Vishnu argued
over who the supreme creator was. Lord Shiva
transformed himself into a Jyotirlinga of infinite
light to settle the debate. He challenged Brahma
and Vishnu to find the beginning and end of the
fiery column.
In his avatar as a boar, Vishnu plunged deep into
the earth. Yet he couldn’t find the base of the
Jyotirlinga. Brahma, in the form of a swan, soared
into the heavens, reaching unimaginable heights,
but still, he couldn’t find its beginning.
Exhausted and humbled, Brahma and Vishnu
returned to Jyotirlinga, acknowledging their
inability to comprehend its true form. Recognizing
their surrender, Lord Shiva revealed himself as
the eternal flame, the source of all creator and
destruction.
The Jyotirlinga, which had manifested as a pillar of
fire, descended to Earth, settling on the Arunachala
Hill.

Significance of the temple
Beyond its historical grandeur, the Arunchalam
temple holds profound significance. The
temple complex is spread over 10 hectares and
symbolizes the five elements: earth, water, fire, air,
and space- while the towering gopurams represent
the five sheaths of the human soul.
The Arunachala Hill is revered as a manifestation
of Lord Shiva, attracting devotees seeking spiritual
enlightenment.
Temple’s Vibrant Festivities
The Arunchalam temple comes alive during
various festivals, each pulsating with the fervor
of devotion. The Karthikai Deepam festival, which
was celebrated on the full moon day of Karthikai,
is particularly breathtaking. Thousands of lamps
illuminate the Arunachala hill, transforming it into a
beacon of divine light; witnessing this spectacle is
a truly unforgettable experience.
Arunachala Konda: The Mountain of Fire
and Light
The Arunachala hill, revered as Arunachala Konda, holds
a unique place in the temple's significance. This sacred
mountain is believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva's
fiery form, Agnibhairava. Pilgrims undertake the Girivalam,
a 14-kilometer circumambulation of the hill, to seek
blessings and attain spiritual purification.
Beyond the Obvious:

discoveries for the curious mind. From exploring the

HOW TO WARD OFF EVIL EYE
FROM HOME
The evil eye, or buri nazar, is a common belief that someone can cause harm or misfortune to
another person by looking at them with envy. The evil eye can affect anyone, and it can also
impact your home, your food, your business, or your health. Therefore, protecting yourself and
your loved ones from the harmful effects of the evil eye is essential. Depending on your culture
and personal reference, there are many ways to ward off the evil eye from the home. Dhanush
Kumar lists some of the most popular and effective methods you can try.
Use Protective Symbols
One of the easiest ways to ward off the evil eye from
home is to use protective symbols believed to have
the power to repel or deflect the evil eye. The most
common symbols that are used are
1. The Hamsa hand: This palm-shaped symbol
originated in the Middle East and North Africa. It
represents the hand of God, and it often has an
eye in the centre, which is said to reflect the evil
eye of the sender. You can hang a hamsa hand on
your wall, door, or window or wear it as a pendant.
2. The evil eye charm: This circular-shaped
symbol usually has a blue eye in the centre. It is
believed to ward off the evil eye by attracting and
absorbing it. You can wear an evil eye charm as a
necklace, earrings, or ring or place it in your home,
car or office.

1. Salt is considered
to be a powerful
purifier that can
remove negative
energy and evil eye
from your home.
You can sprinkle
salt around your
home, especially
in the corners and
near the entrances.
You can also
dissolve salt in
water and spray it
around your home.
2. Lemon and chilli:
Lemon and chilli
are considered
more effective
in absorbing and
neutralising the evil
eye. You can hang a
string of lemon and
chilli outside your
home, preferably
on a Saturday. You
can cut a lemon in
half and place it in a
glass of water near
your door or window.
Cleansing Rituals
In Indian households, the fragrance of incense has
long been associated with purification. Burning
sage can cleanse the home, dispelling any lingering
negativity. Accompanying with sacred chants
enhances the vibrational frequency, creating a
protective shield around your living space.
Crystal Guardians
Harness the power of crystals to guard your home
against the evil eye. Black tourmaline, a powerful
protective stone, absorbs negative energies, while
amethyst promotes spiritual balance. Strategically
placing these gemstones in crucial areas of your
home can create a harmonious atmosphere.
Auspicious Plants
Invite nature into your home with plants believed to
ward off negativity. Lucky bamboo is associated with
prosperity and good fortune, while holy basil, also
known as Tulsi, is revered for its purifying properties.
These green guardians enhance the aesthetics and
contribute to a positive and balanced environment.
