This document summarizes a presentation about how the infrastructure and environment surrounding two schools with similar demographics can impact stress levels and daily experiences when walking children to school. It notes that the walk to one school was longer, involved more interactions with traffic, and took twice as long as the walk to the other school. It then lists and compares many qualitative factors of the walking environments, highlighting how aspects like sidewalks, traffic, and aesthetics can differently impact stress and quality of life on a daily basis. It argues that infrastructure should be designed with health, equity and daily living in mind.
