Andreas Hebbel-Seeger gave a presentation on varsity sports and event communication in the context of digitization. He discussed how media production and distribution have been trivialized with the rise of technologies like action cameras, drones, 360 footage, and virtual reality. He emphasized that effective communication requires understanding user expectations and using established and innovative formats across multiple channels and media. The success of social networks like Snapchat and Periscope show that volatile communication and customer retention are not incompatible if brands engage users with entertaining storytelling and interactive experiences.

Talk at Universities’ Rowing Race Culture Development Forum 2015, August 20th, Wuhan/China.
Abstract: Sports can fulfil various functions in the context of university; as occasion and subject of collegiate communication, as a projection surface for identification with the own campus or as an object of linking course content.
In addition varsity sports has also an impact on students personal development. So called „soft skills“ are not only relevant for academic studies but as well for future careers. In this talk the particular suitability of rowing will be discussed by the example of team building.

Digitalisation in Coaches Education discusses innovative video technologies like 360-degree video and video drones that can provide new visualization possibilities for sports. 360-degree video allows users to look around from a fixed camera position and provides an immersive experience. Video drones provide aerial views and flexibility to capture sports from new perspectives not possible with other equipment. Both technologies open up new opportunities for sports communication, training, and learning if used appropriately while also addressing challenges like safety and equal opportunities. Hands-on sessions are proposed to familiarize users with equipment and analyze recording outcomes.

This document discusses using podcasts within higher education to share best practices in teaching and learning. It outlines how the university has created an in-house podcast over 4 seasons with 37 episodes to distribute teaching techniques and gain insights from colleagues. Production requires about 7.5 hours per episode for preparation, recording, editing, and communication. Insights from the podcast indicate topics of interest and the top 3 tips from colleagues are preparation, teacher-student relationships, and encouraging student self-activity. The goal is to better approach blended learning and asynchronous exchange around content.

What is digitalization really about - and what does that mean for university ...Andreas Hebbel-Seeger
1) The digital transformation involves more than just transferring analog processes to digital formats. It requires adaptation and designing new processes and business models across all levels of administration, products, and services.
2) Digitization impacts university sports in areas like management, monitoring, new gaming/eSports, communication, and employability. It also makes sports more informal and ubiquitous through wearable tech and mobile apps.
3) University sports facilities will need to become "media houses" to effectively communicate with target audiences where they are online through owned media like websites and videos, using the most influential channels and adapting quickly as platforms change.
September 2019.
To be, or not to be… When and how 360 degrees video enhance learningAndreas Hebbel-Seeger
1. The document discusses the use of 360-degree video for teaching and learning. It outlines several benefits of using 360-degree video such as improving contextualization, increasing learning motivation and engagement, and allowing individual exploration.
2. However, it also notes some potential limitations and disadvantages like novelty effects influencing engagement and attention, a lack of direction for novices unfamiliar with a topic, and less control over user experience compared to traditional video.
3. Overall, the document concludes that 360-degree video is not an alternative to traditional video but an extension that provides new opportunities when incorporated into teaching and learning when used strategically.

Indian Premier League (IPL) ---2024.pptxrathinikunj60
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most prominent and lucrative Twenty20 (T20) cricket leagues in the world. Since its inception in 2008, the IPL has revolutionized the landscape of cricket by blending sports, entertainment, and commerce. This summary provides an overview of the IPL's history, structure, notable performances, controversies, and its impact on cricket and beyond.
History and Formation
The IPL was launched by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2008, inspired by the success of domestic T20 leagues like the English T20 Cup and the now-defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL). Lalit Modi, the then Vice-President of BCCI, played a crucial role in conceptualizing and launching the league. The inaugural season kicked off in April 2008 with eight franchises representing different cities in India.
Structure and Format
The IPL follows a franchise-based model, where teams are owned by a mix of corporations, Bollywood stars, and other high-profile individuals. The league originally started with eight teams, although the number has fluctuated over the years due to various reasons including expansions and terminations. As of the latest seasons, the IPL features ten teams.
The tournament format includes a double round-robin stage, where each team plays the others twice, followed by playoffs. The top four teams from the round-robin stage qualify for the playoffs, which consist of two qualifiers, an eliminator, and the final. This format ensures a highly competitive and engaging tournament, culminating in a grand finale to crown the champion.
Teams and Their Evolution
The founding teams of the IPL were:
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals)
Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings)
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Mumbai Indians (MI)
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Deccan Chargers (now defunct, replaced by Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Over the years, the league has seen new teams such as Pune Warriors India, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Gujarat Lions, and Rising Pune Supergiant. The most recent additions are the Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, introduced in the 2022 season.
Iconic Players and Performances
The IPL has attracted the best talent from around the world, with numerous iconic players making significant contributions. Some of the standout performers include:
Sachin Tendulkar (MI): The "Little Master" brought his legendary status to the IPL, winning the Orange Cap (top run-scorer) in 2010.
Chris Gayle (RCB, KXIP): Known for his explosive batting, Gayle holds the record for the highest individual score in an IPL match (175*).
MS Dhoni (CSK): Dhoni's leadership has been instrumental in CSK's success, leading them to multiple titles.
AB de Villiers (RCB): Renowned for his innovative stroke play, de Villiers has been a consistent match-winner.
Virat Kohli (RCB): The highest run-scorer in IPL history, Kohli's batting prowess is unmatched.

Hamburg - City of Sports in a post-applicant state
1. City of Sports in a post—applicant state
Andreas Hebbel-Seeger
16th Annual International Conference on Sports:
Economic, Management, Marketing & Social
Aspects, 9-12 May 2016, Athens, Greece
2. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 2
In March 2015 Hamburg was nominated by the national
Olympic Committee as the German candidate city to
apply for the Olympic Summer Games 2024.
3. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 3
On the political level the application
was linked to a formal approval (vote)
by the citizens of Hamburg.
4. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 4
The referendum date had been set early in
the application process and the vote was
executed on November, 29th in 2015.
5. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 5
The initially given forecast of relatively high
approval (60-75%) couldn’t be confirmed:
The citizens of Hamburg rejected the application
by a close vote.
6. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 6
The potential reasons may vary
on different levels.
7. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 7
The national competition against the „big“ neighbor and
the capital Berlin was for many much more emotional and
tangible in comparison to the international competition.
8. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 8
In terms of cost allocation for the application no
agreement could be reached between the federal
government and the city of Hamburg.
9. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 9
Scandals in international sports (FIFA, Athletics
Federation) forewent the referendum and reinforced
the doubts about the transparency and ethical clarity
in sports organizations.
10. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger | Hamburg - City of Sports in a post—applicant state | May 2016 10
The emigration of refugees from the Middle East
to Europe became a key challenge with

The terrorist attacks in Paris on Nov., 13th - among the
targets of which was a stadium during the soccer match
between France and Germany, - caused uncertainty and
fear affecting other sports events.
A few days later the stadium in Hannover was evacuated
shortly before the soccer game between Germany and the
Netherlands.

These are the possible causes - communication
is therefore most likely the reason.

Focus on the ration aspects of public communication
as well as numerous public discussions (cost, revenue,

Nevertheless, it was not possible to activate the

But how to turn citizens into fans?
How to make them ambassadors of their own matter?

successfully as we have witnessed.
This is a good base to build on in a future -
that is hopefully not too far away.
But some research needs to be done first...
