LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

How to Build a Module in Odoo 17 Using the Scaffold MethodCeline George
Odoo provides an option for creating a module by using a single line command. By using this command the user can make a whole structure of a module. It is very easy for a beginner to make a module. There is no need to make each file manually. This slide will show how to create a module using the scaffold method.

You may ask ‘why recommend this qualification to our Tutors?’.
Very few Tutors when first starting their teaching within the Prison Education environment will have encountered
the various challenges associated with a vulnerable adult prison population and the day to day regimes they live
by. Some may have experience of safeguarding young people in schools and colleges, but the context within the
prison population age variation, which varies from young people through middle aged to the elderly.
This qualification will support Tutors to develop the knowledge and understanding of the ways in which young
people may be vulnerable to harm, abuse or exploitation in the workplace or learning environment.
It will also help Tutors to understand the personal responsibilities required to keep young people safe, the role
and responsibilities of different agencies, the legal context of safeguarding and the national guidelines for
recognising and reporting situations where young people may be at risk.

Clarification of CPD Requirements
Assessors, Internal Quality Assurers and External Quality Assurers should have access to, and be engaging with,
continuous professional development activities in order to keep up to date with developments and any issues
relevant to the qualification and/or its units. These may include those offered by the Awarding Organisation or
other recognised and relevant providers in the sector.
For Assessors, Internal Quality Assurers and External Quality Assurers a minimum of 30 hours CPD is required per
annum (1st September – 31st August) which must be demonstrated through a personal development plan (PDP)
or as a reflective diary. Responsibility for CPD is the individual’s, not the organisation they work for.
Please see below requirements for each qualification you assess or teach on.
3001/3002/3003/3007/6002/6003/6004/6008/6009/6010
This must include the completion of a minimum number of 30 hours CPD in each twelve month period using
activities approved for CPD which do not have to be consecutive.
(see below).
The CPD requirement must be carried out on one or a combination of the types of activities listed below. No
activity will carry a 'double hours' allowance.
'Hands-on' delivery of relevant services/treatments to fee paying clients in a commercial salon that can be
shown to develop individual skill and knowledge levels
Undertaking technical training that develops new and/or updates existing skills and/or knowledge levels
Further relevant qualifications.
The following activities will not count towards CPD:
Reading the trade press and books
Listening to tapes and watching DVDs.
Individuals must provide relevant and suitable evidence that CPD has taken place within each 12 month period to
be measured from 1 September - 31 August.
Calculating CPD hours
a) CPD for existing assessors and quality assurers is measured within each 12 month period, taken from 1
September – 31 August each year.
b) CPD hours for new assessors and quality assurers shall be measured from the date their duties commence.
c) Assessors and quality assurers who take leave from assessment or quality assurance duties during any twelve
month period will be able to collect CPD pro rata.
d) The CPD hours for part time assessors and quality assurers will be calculated pro rata based on a nominal 37
hour week. However, a minimum of 5 hours CPD in any twelve month period must be carried out by all part
time assessors and quality assurers.
For example, an assessor contracted for 7 hours/week: 7 37 x 100 = approx. 20% of a full time assessor. 20% x
30 hours = 6 hours CPD in any 12 month period.
e) A nominal time of 30 hours per technical unit achieved has been set, regardless of the unit.
f) If you are an assessor and quality assurer, you only have to do the minimum of 30 hours CPD, not 60 hours.

Success Story 1 – The Jac Ludlow Story
"Here is Jac’s story in his own words"
We would like to introduce one of our Barbering Industry Advisory
Board members, Jac Ludlow. Jac has shared his story with us and
would like to share it now, with you, in his own words.
On July 20th
, 2012 I asked to be remanded in custody after pleading
guilty to the importation of controlled substance.
I had been back and forth my home town of South Wales and
Canterbury crown court numerous times and could no longer keep
saying goodbye to family. From that day I decided to take full
responsibility to change my life and drink and drug habits.
I was sentenced to 5 years but as I had opted to be remanded at the first possibly chance a third of my sentence
was deducted.
This resulted in me being sentenced to 3 years 8 months (of which I would serve half inside and half outside on
license.)
I started off inside HMP Elmley (6 hours from my home town of south wales.) I applied for a transfer the day I
entered and 7 months later I was shipped to a local jail called HMP Parc where I spent a further 11 months.
I was given my lower risk categorisation (cat d) that entitled me to go to an open prison however, I spent no less
than a week there because a member of staff new me and believed there was a conflict of interest. This resulted
in me being sent back to a closed prison.
At this point instead of breaking… I decided to act. I wanted to become the first prisoner in the history of Parc
prison to be allowed to leave a category B closed prison for day release.
Parc prison opened a barber shop inside the prison where people would have an option to learn the city & guilds
qualification. I became a technician; my role was to teach people and I realised I had a natural flair for this. This
was recognised by the tutor in the barbershop named Vicki Davies. She then spoke to a lady called Ceri Edwards
and together they applied to the prison system for my day release. It was granted. This one-day release turned
into 5 days.
I worked at the academy teaching numerous people who went on to pass their NVQ. Who would have thought I
was a prisoner!!!!
More important to me, the fellow inmates who I taught inside now own their own business outside! together we
inspired each other! it took away the walls and gave us a future to look forward to.
I spent endless nights inside the prison system reading different books. I flooded my mind with as much positive
material as I could, I wrote short and long-term goals in a book I called my ‘harry potter book’ I called it this
because the book was that powerful I would right a goal and it would come true. (call it silly but this helped and
still doesn’t help me stay positive) I found myself inspiring various family and friends using my cell telephone even
though I was the one who was incarcerated.

President: HRH The Princess Royal. Chairman: Sir John Armitt CBE FREng FCGI. Director-General: Chris Jones.
My mind set instantly improved and the conversation I would have with myself lead to the vision of me becoming
a barbershop owner upon release, I could smell the hair tonics and picture the set up.
Never underestimate the power of goal setting and belief! January 6, 2014 I was released on tag!
Myself and my brother opened out first barbershop (Bojangles British Barber Club) 1 month after I was realised
on March 1st
. I continued my work in the academy where I was once on day realised, this time being paid. In just 2
years myself and my brother out grew our floor space in the barbershop. We decided to move on to a bigger
premise and our income grew. We then went on to open a third shop.
At this point I realised my biggest problem was that I set goals were two small and they were coming true.
I decided I wanted to become an international educator! To this date I travel various locations of the globe
showcasing at some of the world’s biggest trade shows.
I have received various setbacks in all of this progression including daily anxiety and depression, however none of
this has held me back!
I have sold my original business (Bojangles British Barber Club), to concentrate on my international Education
Company.
When I am not on my travels educating I am based in Norway managing a barbershop that I set up 18 months ago
as a consultant. This company are now Barbershop number 2 and next month we are opening an academy. The
company is called fit for Vikings.
Prison NEVER HELD ME BACK, my intention is to enter the prison system to conduct seminars and MAKE prisoners
understand that they are far better than their current circumstance!
I want them to engage with the qualification and better their lives
I want to offer them a full business plan as well as talking them through the importance of the NVQ I want to
teach inside tutors my programme and then travel to insure people are projecting this to a high standard. I know
that some governments offer funding to ex-offenders, perhaps we could add this to the courses as a long-term
option. I want to offer them mentoring via skype or email once they are realised. To ensure they have the best
second chance
It would be an honor to help to see exactly what they are capable of!
Our team here at City and Guilds are proud to support and work with offenders, we believe that engaging with
education within the prison system can have a profound effect on rehabilitation. Candidates who achieve
qualifications while carrying out their sentence can find that they can envision a much more positive future.

Success Story 2 – The Eileen Cavalier Student of Excellence Award.
"Here is Christabelle story in her own words"
Christabelle Amoah is a fantastic example of how someone can turn their lives
around with the right motivation and support. This is Christabelle’s story:
I initially met Julie Kemp at HMP Downview where she worked as a Beauty
Therapy Tutor. In November 2014 I was transferred to HMP Send. I wanted to
study a course whereby the curriculum was longer than 6 - 8 weeks. As a result, I
registered my interest to study various courses; however, I was placed on waiting
lists. HMP Send had a hair & beauty salon however due to staff changes training
courses weren’t available. It took a few months before Julie Kemp was appointed
the role of Beauty Therapy Tutor at HMP Send.
I spoke to Julie about enrolling for the Level 2 Beauty Therapy course. By the
time I started the beauty course the education department had changed its
provider to Novus. Julie as a Tutor was extremely supportive and always willing
to help her students. I felt as though I was attending college which gave me a
sense of escape from the reality of being in prison. Julie being a forward-thinking
Tutor would often permit educational sessions whereby students could access
education computers to complete course assignments. From a practical point of
view, the beauty salon became a workplace comparable to Salon out in the community. When the course came to
an end, I didn’t want to leave so I applied to become a classroom assistant whilst working as part of the
commercial beauty salon team. I had also spoken to Diane Widdowfield (Hairdressing Tutor) about enrolling to
study the Level 2 Hairdressing course. I enjoyed studying the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing because Diane also
showed a supportive and inspiring attitude towards the students. In fact, the hair & beauty salon presented a
type of professionalism like no other work party or course within the prison.
Throughout my time working in the salon, Julie, Diane and I had several conversations regarding employment
prospects for those who were approaching the ROTL stages of their sentence. I mentioned wanting to research
the possibility of attending college as part of my ROTL. In the months leading up to my ROLT Julie and Diane
continued being supportive by offering advice and information related to my continual professional development.
As tutors they had experience working in salons and colleges, so they were able to provide constructive
knowledge and insight into the hair & beauty industry. At this point I envisioned a possible career path within the
hair and beauty industry. Having shared my vision Julie and Diane, I was encouraged to contact and research
colleges that offered Level 3 Hair & Beauty courses.
When Julie attended a CPD event she met and spoke with teaching professionals from The City & Guilds Group.
During this event Julie gained information from a previous City & Guild Bursary team member; who mentioned
the bursary process available to prisoners. With this information, I was able to obtain an application form. During
my application process, I doubted myself; Julie and Diane encouraged me to apply for the bursary. When I
received my interview letter Penny and Sally (Novus staff at HMP Send) contacted The City & Guilds Groups on
my behalf and arranged a telephone interview.
In 2016 I was granted a bursary from The City & Guild Group; this helped me pay for my course fees and travel
costs. I was able to enrol to study a Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy at The London College of Beauty Therapy
and graduated in November 2017. In June 2018 I attended The London College of Beauty Therapy Student
Awards. To my surprise I received a nomination and won The Eileen Cavalier Student of Excellence Award! I

received several acknowledgments and praise from various teaching and industry professionals. I was
congratulated and commended for working hard to achieve my qualification. I also met an External Verifier from
The City and Guilds Group who thanked me for being a positive role model. Having received all these positive
comments overwhelmed me, nonetheless it boosted my confidence. I’ve recently been contacted by The London
College of Beauty Therapy, who have connected me with industry experts & brands for employment
opportunities. I am currently a few weeks away from my release date and looking forward to working in the
beauty industry.
I am eternally appreciative to Julie, Diane, Penny, Sally, The City & Guilds Group, and The London College of
Beauty Therapy for believing in me. Thank you all for giving me a wonderful opportunity!

The Koestler Trust – Awards
The Koestler Trust or Award scheme is a charity which helps offenders, ex-offenders, secure patients and
detainees in the United Kingdom express themselves creatively.
It was founded in 1962, by a bequest by the British-Hungarian author, Arthur Koestler.
The trust promotes the arts in prisons, secure hospitals, immigration Centres and in the community, encouraging
creativity and the acquisition of new skills as a means towards rehabilitation.
The Koestler Awards provide an imaginative and exciting way to stimulate as, far as possible the mind and spirit of
the prisoner.
The Awards cover 61 art-forms, which includes Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty categories. Each category is
judged by a panel of experts and monetary prizes are awarded for artistic achievement. – (Please see the
attached Koestler Awards 2018 Guidance Notes & Information. The notes name some of the arts, monetary prizes
awarded, and the time-line from entry to final awards) A large proportion of the countries Prison Education
Departments submit entries every year, and are usually successful in achieving recognition for their learners work
and skills across the categories.
Below are two excellent examples from Highpoint and Send of achievement across the London Region -
HMP Highpoint - Barbering
Carl achieved a ‘Bronze Award’ for ‘The Journey Home’ depicted by a book and sketches outlining his journey
from entering the Prison and onwards.
A ‘Commendation’ was awarded for his ink drawing depicting handcuffs with a broken chain.
Carl also presented his work to OFSTED and external Businesses.
Meshack wrote a poem which received a ‘Highly Commended Award’, inspired by attending and achieving the
Level 2 Barbering Diploma.

A copy was presented to Chris Foster from the ‘Fozz Academy’ when he held a presentation and workshop within
the Barber Shops at the Prison.
HMP Send – Hairdressing
Jenny won the ‘Gold Award’ in Hairdressing for Send, using the theme ‘Rainbow behind the door’. It was a short
shaved haircut, with two applications of bleach, as it was on a very dark base colour. She creatively used crazy
colour and made stencils to be used on the shaved hair. Jenny did a mood board to show her inspiration, which
also contained stencilling.
Karen won the ‘Silver Award’ and did a case study to show the colour she has achieved on artificial black hair.
Both Jenny and Karen received detailed written feedback from Louise Galvin, Daniel Galvin’s daughter who
judged the Hairdressing categories.
We have three entries this year, so fingers crossed!
