Safaricom and Airtel are the two largest telecommunications providers in Kenya. While both offer similar services, Safaricom has been more successful due to its superior technological adaptation. Safaricom launched innovative services like M-Pesa, flashback messaging, and email-over-SMS before Airtel. It also invested more in infrastructure with a wider 4G network and more satellites. As a result, Safaricom customers experience faster speeds and better coverage nationwide. While Airtel has tried to compete through data bundles and mobile units, Safaricom's customer-centric innovation and strong network have allowed it to dominate the market in Kenya.
