The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms for those who already suffer from conditions like depression and anxiety.
This document provides a summary of non-lethal self-defense products including stun guns, pepper sprays, alarms, hidden cameras, and surveillance systems. Stun guns are described as temporarily disabling attackers using high voltage and low amperage electricity. A variety of stun gun models are pictured and described, ranging from small concealed designs to larger options. Pepper sprays from brands like Mace and Sabre are also featured. The document outlines home security products and hidden cameras for monitoring purposes.
This document proposes a project to validate clamp and silo storage methods for extending the shelf life of harvested sweet potato roots in Uganda. Sweet potato is an important food security crop in Uganda, but farmers currently harvest all crops before the dry season due to losses from weevils and rotting, resulting in price fluctuations. The project will test storage of three varieties in clamps and silos in three districts, assessing rotting, sprouting and damage over time. Promising techniques will be disseminated through extension partners. Market opportunities will also be identified to help farmers and traders benefit from longer shelf life. The goal is to increase food security and incomes for 40,000 sweet potato growing households through extended fresh root availability.
This document discusses common bean research projects at CIMMYT including:
1) Ongoing diversity and QTL mapping studies using two MARS populations from Mexico, Ethiopia, and Colombia with genotyping of over 1500 SNPs.
2) Plans to expand an SNP chip to 6000 SNPs and apply it to over 200 parental lines from Colombia and Africa.
3) Forthcoming reference sequence mapping of disease resistance markers and converting marker selection to an SNP system.
4) Parallel efforts to establish collaborations through meetings in Malawi and partnerships between CIMMYT, PABRA, BIC, and visiting researchers.

Climate change is projected to impact river runoff in the eastern Baltic catchment area. Analysis of meteorological and hydrological data from 1961-2010 showed statistically significant increases in annual and winter air temperatures and precipitation. Modeling projects further temperature increases of 1.4-1.7°C and precipitation changes by 2050, impacting runoff patterns. Peak spring floods may decrease while minimum winter flows are expected to increase, with earlier timing of these events. Summer runoff projections vary regionally but drought risk may rise in late summer. Adaptation strategies are needed to strengthen transboundary cooperation given changing water availability.

Барановичи, Гомель);
для Android
